The vehicle (2025 Rubicon XR) didn’t come with fender liners. The rear doesn’t bother me as much as the front. I’ve got a set in my garage waiting to be installed in the front but I’m a bit worried about what this does to airflow and temperature control.

how critical are liners really? You say there’s stuff getting into areas hard to clean out, but not impossible!
I have installed lifts on 3 new xr’s and all came with liners. Odd yours didn’t.

Yeah I’m still thinking about this as well. It’s been a few months now that I’ve been debating reaching back out to the sales guy at the dealer who I was working with. They are generally amenable people.

However, I have by now seen plenty of folks who removed their liners entirely, either to prevent rubbing with large tires or for cooling reasons.

So far it wasn’t high on my priority list to put liners back. I was thinking of Line-Xing the back. For the front, I have to find a solution that’ll fit with my Metalcloak shocks and my 37ā€ tires without rubbing. I hear that can be a challenge.

I have 37 as does every one I wheel with and no rubbing or at least not enough to hurt anything. No issues with cooling either. Did you buy it new or have someone install the lift. I can see someone removing it to install the shocks but I never have.

Also it looks like your flare extensions were removed did you do that? Or the dealer? If you bought new and it didn’t come with them I would be wondering why

It had no liners when I bought it, but at the time I wasn’t educated enough with these vehicles to realize it. I installed the lift kit myself. When you say you are clearing the 37s, that is with stock or aftermarket liners?

I installed those aftermarket fender flares myself too. But the liners were already gone by then.

Nope - I bought it new with 13 miles on it. They just weren’t there from factory, go figure why. If the stock ones clear the 37s then I will definitely hit up the dealer to get me a set, hopefully free of charge.

Bunch of new additions today to the rig. Wasn’t happy with how the Rocksport Red shocks rode, nothing wrong with them, but wanted something more adjustable. While I was in there, I thought I’ll also do my steering.

List of new additions and pictures attached:
  • Bilstein B8 8100 DSA full set
  • Fox Steering Stabilizer
  • SteerSmarts HD stuff:
    • Track bar
    • Drag Link
    • Tie Rod
    • Stabilizer Clamps etc
    • Sector Shaft
  • Metalcloak Stuff
    • DB3 Drop Brackets
    • HD Ball(er) Joints Set
  • Teraflex Spare Delete
  • Extended Stainless Steel brake lines

Heck yeah! Those stinkin ball(er) joints are sick! I test drove a 4dr today for my wife and it had the AEV 2.5ā€ lift on it with the bilsteins I can’t remember if they were 5100s or the 8100s without the resi. But it drove so nice man. It soaked up speed bumps like a dogon prerunner. It was a 2.0 hard top and it was so noisy. More so than my 3.6 with no muffler.

They cut through road impurities like a knife through butter. I was so happy with how they rode as some people said they can be stiff due to diameter. My Jeep now rides like my Raptor used to on the Fox Live Valves.

Steering is also as tight as it can get with everything on now.

can’t comment on noise. The 2.0 is lawnmower but I put sound deadening all throughout the cabin so it’s not that bad.

After a lot of back and forth with the Bilstein shocks, I finally found some settings that suit the 2-door well. The issue with 2-doors in general is their light rear end compared to the front (45/55 from factory). In my case this situation gets even worse because I deleted my spare tire and have a steel bumper with winch in the front. I assume my weight distribution is more akin to 40/60). Most aftermarket shocks you can buy are tuned for the general market, of which the majority is 4-door Wranglers (that is of course unless you buy from folks like accutune or metalcloak). So the shocks are valved a tad bit too stiff for 2-doors out of the box. Given the B8 DSA adjustability, it’s luckily a problem that can be solved.

here’s what I landed on for on-road:
Front Low Speed Compression 10 out of 20
Front High Speed Compression 2 out of 10
Rear LSC 3
Rear HSC 0

For offroad, the logic almost flips entirely!
