Happened in mine and i'm like "how the F does this break"? and it was in the passenger side which is used even less than the drivers side.

And when it breaks it defaults to a semi open position which is a pain in the ass to deal with. Luckily we have one of those alien sunshades so i put the bungee around the visor to keep it in a closed position.

Terrible visor design and quality, but my 2019 JL with 53K miles has been great and reliable, with only 2 issues, the visor and the lock/unlock button on the driver's door not working.
Amazon sells a quick & easy fix for the visors. But we shouldn't have to do even that. Amazon.com : jl visor repair kit

To be fair, you paid a very hefty premium for the 392 engine. A price that doesn't match the value you get for it. the 392 should have been about a $7-8k option at most. But, I believe Jeep priced them so high as to discourage more sales than they could keep up with.

As far as Toyota seats, I really dislike their vegan leather, or whatever they call it. I'll take real leather for the price. The only synthetic, leather-like material that has proven to be any good over the years is the Mercedes MB Tex. I had it in my old C280, good stuff.
I LOVE the mb (as I called it) "texmex" seats. They were indestructible. As for jeeps- I prefer the cloth to the leather. Esp in florida! I just think for the 392 price I shld have powered, massaging, cooling PADDED seats. It used to be jeep had crappy seats bc we wld use the hose to clean out the interior- but that's not happening these days so time for jeep to start giving options that apply to the daily drivers.

Eh, the constant "it's the cool thing to do to shit on Jeeps" gets annoying. 100%, shitty experiences can be, and for a good number of people, are part of the Jeep ownership experience. But the constant moaning gets tiresome, especially when folks climb up on a soapbox about it. So, expect a pendulum swing the other way every once in a while.
Especially when the complaints are things like "ride" in the same breath they say they'd buy a new TJ? The ride is way better in the JL than any TJ stock and especially lifted. People who pine for the TJ suffer from dementia. The same people will bitch about the power of the pentastar and then say they miss the 4.0L? 100 less hp you miss? While complaining that 285hp isn't enough? Make it make sense. The JL is by far the best wrangler ever made on road and off and adjusted for inflation is a better value too. Yes some people get lemons... from all manufacturers and all models.

Agreed about the cost. 392 models should have been pulled to a separate finishing area with a high focus on QC with available options that didn't come out of the Stellantis parts bin.

Maybe that's something Jeep could consider in the future. A factory Custom Shop, where QC is a higher priority and options that aren't usually available can be had. Yeah, it would cost the potential buyer quite a premium, but that price in crease wouldn't affect every other Jeep on the regular assembly lines.

If Jeep doesn't want to do that, then they can partner with AEV again. Things like suspension, bumpers, wheels/tires, sound systems, upholstery, paint, wrap, custom decals, etc. People could even get their heated memory seats. Then all those high end option prices wouldn't have to be subsidized by everyone else who buys the regular production models.

I’ve had Jeeps for years (and before them IH Scouts). I have become ever more disenchanted as Jeeps have grown larger and more complex, while becoming more difficult to DIY repair. Medicore build quality, poor ride, and laughable ā€œserviceā€ at dealerships combined with ludicrous pricing have taken the shine off the Apple. Buddy got a new Land Cruiser and frankly it’s nicer than anything Jeephas ever thrown together. I’m not into extreme rock crawling which is perhaps the only area Jeep will outperform the LC. It’s quieter, rides a Lot better, is much better built and has an actual dealer network that services them. Dunno if I’ll jump just yet or not but if I trade the JL off, I’m 99% sure it’ll NOT be for another Jeep
You can't take the top & doors of the LC.

Cars are getting better and cheaper in general. Yet, people choose not to believe it.

I sort of did that. I bought a Gen 3 Raptor but kept the Jeep. I love the Raptor. So much more comfortable, and its one of the best driving/riding vehicles I've ever owned. My wife drives the Jeep when she needs to go into the office but otherwise it sits until we go wheeling, but the last few times we've gone out to play I've taken the Raptor. We even took the Raptor to Ouray and Moab last year instead of the Jeep.

I too am disenchanted with Jeep, Stellantis and its dealers.

I looked into getting the new Land Cruiser. Initially, MSRP was rumored to start around $50,000. But when Toyota finally introduced Land Cruiser, starting MSRP had become $58,000. By the time I added leather, navi, sunroof, I was at $75,000!

Seventy-five grand for a Toyota with a 2.5L 4-cyl engine... Pfft... No thanks.

I went back to the Jeep dealer and found a sweet deal on a 2023 Gladiator Rubicon. The rest is now history.

With one exception... if OP has his mind set on LC, he should consider the Lexus equivalent. Unlike the Toyota variant, those are built in Japan, and I'm pretty certain the build quality is considerably better.
True id definitely try and get the first letter of the vin to be a J.

What a jackass thing to say!
Selective memory make it sound better? The TJ was nowhere near as good as the JL in any fashion. Slow, tiny wheel openings, low power, terrible ride by comparison, poor handling, short control arms so the angles and handling really go to crap when you start lifting it, and in my experience no more or less reliable than the JL.

Don’t get a kink in your neck. Jeeps are, by any measure you care to employ, crude compared to other modern vehicles. Frankly, that very crudeness and simplicity were what brought folks to Jeep to start with. They were simple yet more capable than the other guy. Today they’re technically more capable than in the past, BUT they’ve grown porky and increasingly more complex. I’d bet there will be CJ’s out on the trail decades after the last JL has been scrapped because of the death of an electronic widget that is no longer available ( same thing applies too ALL modern vehicles). You can darn near rebuild a CJ with a crescent wrench, pliars and a screwdriveršŸ˜. I don’t ā€œhateā€ Jeeps (would not own and have owned them if I did) but they are a long way from what they could be, and for todays prices, the ā€œshouldā€ be close to perfect on build quality. Sadly, Nobody’s vehicles today have the quality that was available from a few manufacturers a couple decades ago. Stellantis (and Fiat before them) worked very hard to make the Jeep an option heavy luxobarges for the high profits that’d generate, it worked well for a while, but they’ve pushed it beyond the pale. Somebody could make a darn nice piece of change by building a simple, basic utility vehicle that was reliable and easy to diy maintain/repair, but nobody does. I’m dreaming that the new folks at Jeep will wake up, but I’m not counting on it.
Correct- Dad’s 3A is still going, parts available. My 95 Dodge PU nearly became scrap iron a few years ago due to an ā€œObsoleteā€ ignition control module, no aftermarket, not repairable, no repairable core available. A couple months of searching found one in a Colorado junkyard. The next ā€œObsoleteā€ electronic part, of the few compared to new vehicles ? Will my 21’s computers etc last for 74 years and counting ?

I love old CJs. The Buick engine was the Dauntless V6. The 4 cylinder was still a Willys design in those years.
The Buick V6 with ~ the same HP as the AMC V8, but much lighter, simpler, fuel efficient, no smog crap, had 1/3 more HP than the AMC 6 that replaced it, and didn’t require a 6ā€ stretch. IMO the best CJ-5 ā€œfactoryā€ engine. Performance parts were available for the Buick.
