Been using the Mopar bracket on a 40 for 3 years now. I also used a Chinese knock off Mopar bracket from Amazon on a 37 for 2 years on my 2 door. Never had an issue.

Was actually considering getting the chinese knock off and upgrading the bolts as it is only $200 in canada. The mopar one is over $1000.

Do you know what name the chinese one was made by? Did it corrode at all?

Couldn't tell you. I'm sure if you just searched for Mopar reinforcement it'll pull up something. They're pretty much identical from what I could tell.

No it hasn't corroded

I have ran them all just on 37s. Between the knock off and oem mopar can’t tell a difference.

I at least recommend the TF tire carrier as it will allow you to carry the tire closer to the gate.

I just recently added the TF hinge portion, was it needed, probably not but I am ready to run larger tires if I go that route.

the dude running the 40s is impressive but I am not willing to take that chance. lol.

Well I was rotating the tires today and when the tire was off I moved the mount by pushing up and down. The noise definitely comes from torsion on the tailgate. I am guessing that this is why mopar made the bracket. To stiffen it up not to twist. I am guessing the alpha does a similar thing by bringing in the tire to stop that leverage or limit it.
IMO the Mopar Hinge Gate Reinforcement pales in comparison to the Teraflex. I don't have a lot of experience with the Mopar, but I do currenly own both the Mopar and the Teraflex. I swapped them between my old Jeep (2021) and my new one (2025). The Mopar part addresses only the torsional stress a heavier tire places on the tailgate. It does minmal, if anything, to reinforce the hinges themselves.

The TF on the other hand addresses both the hinges and torsional stress on the tailgate. It is also much beefier than the Mopar and is all one piece that extends from the hinges, past the tire carrier itself, adding far more torsional rigidity.

The Mopar reinforcement is about half the size, and thickness of the Teraflex. The Mopar extends only to the tire carrier (first pic), and then there are multiple pieces that complete it, where the tire carrier gets mounted (second pic). But they are disconnected from the main reinforcement piece and they are really just spacers for the tire mount.

Maybe the Mopar is "good enough", but the TF adds a lot of reassurance. It is a beast!!

Cavfab tire carrier has been very good. And in a much better price range than the Terra flex.

Wonder if I would need the full teraflex setup as I only have the 31570r17 size tire and rim. Deciding between the teraflex alpha spare tire carrier versus the Mopar full setup. Alreading have the Mopar relocation bracket.

Nope i didnt need it .. the KO2 37s fit as is with the stock rubicon plastic bumper... then I moved to Rival 4x4 aluminum rear bumper and it fit that one with even more room to spare. So i never installed that relocation bracket.
do you happen to have a photo of how the 37 fit with the stock plastic bumper? I am using the Rough country relocation bracket with my mickey T 37's and I should have waited to see if it would fit without it before installing it but I just installed it in anticipation of getting the tries and I much would rather not have to run the relocation bracket but too lazy to pull it back off :) If I had a photo and it looked close I would give it a try...thanks

I didn't take a specific picture to show the fit.. Here is what I found. There was no rubbing anywhere and it fit comfortably as it's without any relocation.
This could be true for KO2 37s but might be tighter (slight rub) for say Baja Boss AT. These were from stock plastic rear bumper and stock Rubicon tire carrier. There's Mopar tailgate reinforcement from factory but it did not have relocation parts like the xr has.

I originally ordered the Mopar, opened the box, thought "WTF is this piece of plastic", and promptly returned it. The Teraflex is a work of art in comparison, and well worth the pricing delta. The trick is to get the tire snug up against the rubber bumper.

well the baja boss apparently is quite a bit bigger....it was jammed so tight I could not open the tailgate.

holy crap, there was space to slide a finger tightly in there on KO2.. man this tire is true to size as they say.

The simplest fix before you wait for a full relocation solution would be either
- https://www.amazon.com/Lantsun-Oversize-Mounting-2018-2019-Wrangler/dp/B07ZH2LGBH/
or
- https://www.amazon.com/TeraFlex-JL-Spare-Relocation-Bracket/dp/B0877BFSSH/

but since you have a $80lb tire, you should get the hinge reinforcement done sooner than later.

I have a mopar hinge and Rough country relocation bracket...It fits fine with that but I was hoping maybe I could get by without the relocation bracket...the rough country relocation bracket is actually well made and made in the USA. I was just hoping I could get by without the relocation bracket because it pushes the tire out an inch and up 2.25" other than that it works great.
