Love mine. It was a pain in the ass to get the tailgate adjusted. I had to set it a little high because the weight kept lowering it too far. If I remember correctly I think I removed the bump stops as they were not necessary but I cannot confirm, and it's raining at work so I cannot let the sugar melt...

I got the carrier and the hinge reinforcement and think it was worth the money. The cliche is true: "buy once, cry once."

I've got the Alpha HD Hinged Spare Tire Carrier & Adjustable Spare Tire Mount Kit.
I installed the setup and have been off-road with it. My tire+wheel weigh about 125 lbs.

Pros:
- Very sturdy setup (no tailgate sag)
- Able to snug tire & wheel very close to the tailgate
- Very adjustable (works with many different wheel backspacing)
- Setup comes pre-painted (don't need to have it powder coated)
- Relative good quality (YMV)

Cons:
- Installation can be fiddly (takes effort & patience to get everything lined up and latching correctly).
- Stock tailgate latch assembly tends to make more noise going over bumps (probably overall weight related, not specifically Teraflex related). Clunk noise can be reduced by replacing OEM latch with one from amazon (threads in the forum about how to do that). I replaced the latch and the noise has been pretty much eliminated.
- Cost
- The Teraflex setup is missing a "stopper hinge". Even with the upgraded Teraflex detent assembly, there is a lot of weight on the stock strap when the tailgate is opened all the way (the strap that contains the camera and backup wiring). I'm still looking for a solution to this problem.
- Teraflex + OEM steel bumper is limited to max 38" tires (not enough clearance to go larger unless you replace the stock bumper)

If I had a Time Machine:
I might consider a bumper+tire setup like AEV or Expedition One. Cost kept me from seriously considering those options originally.

Thanks. I just wanna snug up the spare against the tailgate with the OEM stops. And hopefully not have any park assist issues after a rotation.
Just wanna update since you gave me the idea to rotate the spare b/c the wheel weights were interfering with the sensors. I had the TPMS at 12 o clock, but there are a ton of weights on this tire and they were at about 9 o clock, and the parking assist kept saying "parking assist unavailable, clean sensors". So I rotated them to be at 12 o clock and the TPMS roughly 2 o clock. Fixed my issue!

Also I use the Teraflex HD tire carrier, but paired with the Mopar tailgate reinforcement as I optioned it and it hasn't been an issue yet. Maybe someday Ill upgrade to the Teraflex hinged tire carrier. Also, Im using a Motobilt rear bumper that has sensor placement in slightly different areas than the stock bumpers, so that could be a variable. They are unfortunately angled downward more than stock which can give inaccurate readings and phantom beeps.

Went from 255/70-18's to 285/70-17's on tires. Rims went from a -44 offset to a -12 offset. And ever since, the park assist went absolutely insane. I installed that Alpha HD, and right back to functioning like I never swapped a thing.

Yeah, your spare doesn't sit back all that far. I didn't go with real big tires (cause I don't do real tough trails - yet), so the sensors were picking up a lot of tire, weight/TPMS. Now, after the HD install, makes absolutely no difference where the wheel weights are located. Nor where the TPMS is sitting. For me, it was a fantastic upgrade. And way more solid than the OEM. No 3rd brake light sitting in the view out the back window. And the tire actually sits low enough that the rearview mirror has some actual functionality.

I've done a little reading into the whole spare tire debacle. But most of the aftermarket pieces I see all push the tire out away from the tailgate, as well as up away from the bumper. This Alpha HD looks promising. I'd complain about the price, but it looks pretty stout for the asking price. And adjustable. Seen a video with a guy who has an -18 offset, and this mount snugged it up to the tailgate (thus no need to modify the stops), and seated it nicely in the bumper recess. Is the Alpha the only adjustable carrier replacement on the market? Any input is greatly appreciated. And yes, I am also looking at this from the park assist aspect as well.
Go for the alpha carrier and tailgate reinforcement. You won’t be disappointed, looks factory and very strong. Bit expensive but 100% worth the money.

Thanks, so it's self-inflicted and no need for people to worry, whew.

I installed the HD, and for what it is, and how well it works, it is worth every single penny. The overall adjustability of the HD is worth the install alone. No matter what tire size I run, the HD has it covered. Well, until I go up in size, then I will have to add the bracket for the tailgate. :)

Oh no, it was seriously self inflicted. I read about how some folks got lucky and didn't have the park assist issues after going up in tire size. And others were able to resolve their issues simply by clocking the spare (wheel weights and/or TPMS location with the park assist sensors). I, was unlucky, on both points. But, the HD install was quick, easy, and really worth the money put out. And, no issues what so ever.

I have the Alpha HD carrier along with the hinge reinforcement kit. I love it.. I run 18x9 -12 offset wrapped in 35x12.50 mud tires.. heavy wheels too.. wheels and tires are about 114 pounds a piece.. snugs it up.. and no worries about the weight. It's definitely strong and I love the look.

Yup, I get what you're saying. My tire/wheel combo isn't near as heavy, so I'm not in need of the reinforcement as yet. But I'm sure in the future, it will happen for me as well. But yeah, the Alpha HD was a "smart" investment and worth while upgrade for my JLU.

All this time I thought I had posted a pic of my install. And as usual, I didn't. But yeah, this was one of the smartest purchases to date.
