@TeraFlex I love this carrier so much, I want to move it to my 392. Is there a way to get a set of the gaskets only for install?
I love mine too.. they are great.. I lost some accessory plugs during a wash and they sent some right out to me.. love this thing.. rock solid

Hi. If I have the mopar tailgate reinforment on my 392 XR and want to upsize to 37's, could I get by with just your carrier and not the tailgate reinforcement? Your website says 35" without tailgate reinforcement but I'm not that interested or capable of doing that install by myself. The carrier sure looks easy.
I have the Mopar tailgate reinforcement on my '22 392 XR, and recently upsized to 37" tires. Everything was fine for a month or so, but I have since developed a tailgate rattle when hitting square edged bumps, railroad tracks, etc. The Mopar tailgate reinforcement is not strong enough to hold up to 37" tires, and I am now trying to decide on different aftermarket tailgait reinforment options, vs just leaving the spare at home and installing a tramp stamp to cover where the OEM tire mount is. After driving the Jeep for a week with no spare I can't believe how much better it drves without the weight of the spare tire hanging off the rear. And not having any rattles is super nice as well. My Jeep is as quiet as a tomb inside now. Well, except for the music that comes from that 392 exhaust.

There's an optional HiLift jack mount that has provision for an antenna.

I used this…
Jeep Wrangler JL Teraflex HD Alpha tire carrier with reinforcement IMG_0699
in addition to the bolts that are pictured. It came with a set or ordinary bolts to be used with the Teraflex Alpha Hinged Tire Carrier.

For those that are using a NMO antenna mount, it is large enough to bore out one of the holes to accept the Breedlove drop in NMO mount I am using leaving the other one sized to hold a dune flag.

Since my spare tire is sucked up tight to the tailgate, the sidewall was just barely kissing the bolt head. While it was not 100% necessary, I counter sunk the inner most bolt hole and used an appropriate countersunk bolt to give a flatter surface and more distance at the side wall of the tire.

Side Note: The Teraflex website includes videos on some of their product pages. Some are filmed in a very funny but informative way. There is one on the page for this product. If you are easily entertained like I am, you might enjoy it.

I got one of these last year in two stages. I added the hinge after I noticed some deflection in the tailgate with the factory reinforcement. So now one NY winter later, the hinge is very stiff. I emailed TeraFlex and according to them, the only way to lubricate the hinge is to remove the tailgate. Now it looks like that the pins are held in place by a circlip on each one. Has anyone here pulled the pins to do this?

Just heard back from TeraFlex and it confirmed my suspicions. Take off the spare, pull the circlips and drive out the pins. Should be able to do them one at a time.
