I've done a little reading into the whole spare tire debacle. But most of the aftermarket pieces I see all push the tire out away from the tailgate, as well as up away from the bumper. This Alpha HD looks promising. I'd complain about the price, but it looks pretty stout for the asking price. And adjustable. Seen a video with a guy who has an -18 offset, and this mount snugged it up to the tailgate (thus no need to modify the stops), and seated it nicely in the bumper recess. Is the Alpha the only adjustable carrier replacement on the market? Any input is greatly appreciated. And yes, I am also looking at this from the park assist aspect as well.

I had the Rugged Ridge Spartacus HD on a previous JL and it was adjustable (to a certain extent). I have the TeraFlex Alpha on my current JL. It's pretty nice and keeps the tire snug against the gate.

Thanks. I just wanna snug up the spare against the tailgate with the OEM stops. And hopefully not have any park assist issues after a rotation.

There are several others, but for just an adjustable carrier I think the TF Alpha is probably the nicest looking and it works great. My 20x9 (-12) with a 35x11.75 tire is snugged up tight against the tailgate with room to spare.

-12 offset, that's what I'm running. So you must know exactly what I'm looking to do. Thanks, I really appreciate your input.

I could be wrong (it's been awhile since my install) but I think the Rugged Ridge had adjustment holes so you could get your tire "close" to the gate but the TeraFlex is slotted so that you could slide it right up against it.

Yes, the Alpha can actually slide in and out. Covers quite a bit of real estate in the process too.

No problem! Here's a pic that shows pretty well how tight it is, and those are the OEM bumpers in there with no extensions. I had to use the uppermost set of holes to keep my backup sensors from going off, as they were intermittent when using the middle set. I liked having the tire a little lower, but since I'm planning on 37's before too much longer it'll just already be ready to go, lol. My tires actually measure out at 35.1", so I would try the middle set first depending on your tire size and just don't use the Loctite on the studs until you're sure of where you want to leave it.

I'm not using big tires. 285/70-17's. But that -12mm offset plays havoc with the park assist. Or, it did, I did rotate the wheel weights away from the sensors, and that seems to be working. I just want to make this carrier work properly, even after a rotation. Cause the only person who would be paying attention to the weights would b e me. Thanks for the pic. Clearly shows this carrier mount to do what I want/need.

Yeah, this seems to be the answer to my needs. Pulled the plug and ordered my mount last night. Thanks for sharing the pics, and insight. Much appreciated.

When I was researching which new carrier to get for my 24 JLUR and the 37's that were going on it I looked at so many different ones my eyes started to cross but every time I came back to the TF Alpha HD setup. It was the very first thing I did to my new 24 and so far so good.

If I were to do it all over again I'd probably look harder at going with the AEV rear bumper and tire carrier setup.

I hear you on looking things up. I kept coming back to this Alpha too. Mostly due to it's adjustments. In towards the tailgate specifically.
