Just an FYI... I have a Tazer JL Lite, and this morning my battery was dead. It all started last Friday morning on my morning commute when I tried to remote start, but nothing happened, so I had to do a in car start. That evening on the way home, it remote started fine, but I noticed my Off Road pages stopped working. I parked the Jeep and didn't try to start it again until today (Monday), and dead battery. Pulled the Tazer JL Lite, and after charging the battery was able to start again. With the Tazer JL Lite removed (But still married), I still have my tires size set and my Off Road pages are now working again. I will run without the Tazer for a while and see if I still have battery issues.
This the exact issue that happened to me. Even the off-road pages. I must have missed this post yesterday. The off-road pages just went black. I did a full reboot too. Tazer off and out. So far so good.

I am still running without the Tazer installed... no issues since removal. When I get time I will reinstall and report back my findings.
Let me be clear, I am not blaming the Tazer... yet. Just in the process of elimination stage of debugging this issue.

Yes I agree. Not blamin Tazer but gotta find out. I can’t help but think unconnect may have kept the computer awake.

I'd go with this extender cable. 12" long and the OBDll connector faces in a direction that lets say works better with the plastics///does not rub or press on plastics. Allows you to hide/secure the TazerJL up under the dash.

Be sure to only order from the amazon vendor "Mobile Computing Solutions" on the lower right of the amazon ad. That vendor ships right away and no back order.

Also, buy some 2" x 4" velcro for securing the TazerJL and bypass module up under the dash.

This is the extender I use with the Tazer JL - no problem after 3 months. /jim

I've had this randomness issue since I bought the TazerLite. Anyone know if the latest firmware 11.1 0 does anything to address the ESS disable reliability? The notes don't indicate anything so I assume not but thought I might check.

Hi. What issue are you facing?

I had some trouble with the ESS and the Tazer, but was able to resolve.

I have a manual trans in my JL - if you do as well then I have a tip for you!

I have an auto. The issue is the same described all over. It disables about 80% of the time. Always freaks me out when I stop and the engine cuts out. The feature just isn't reliable yet but that seems to be pretty widely known so I didn't get into it. I've sent messages to Zauto and they seem to know about it.

I was just wondering if the latest firmware took any steps toward resolution.

I might make your day.

Yes be sure you are using the latest firmware from zautomotive.com

There is a document on their website about a “Re-Learning Procedure” for the Jeep computer to reprogram itself after a tire size/gear change.

You have to follow that procedure. It’s not difficult, but do it exactly.

My extra tip that isn’t in the instructions is that before you perform the procedure, make your settings with the Tazer and save them — and then HARD BOOT the computer in the Jeep by pulling each of the following fuses, one by one, for a 10-count each.

I would do the fuses: F22, F23, F34, F38, F76, F80.

It probably only really needs to be one of those - but I don’t know which one and it hurts nothing to do each. With 2 batteries, this is easier than just disconnecting the battery for 60 seconds like we would have done in prior models.

The support from “Tazer” is good - you can text the owner at the number on the support page for text support.

holy... where did you get this step-by-step sorcery and at what point do I have to sacrifice a virgin monkey on an altar made of bananas? Seriously though, this is a pretty weighty change that sounds like it's likely to reset all my settings on my Jeep.

a) it doesn’t reset anything.
b) it is no more severe than what happens when you buy a new battery.
c) we could all just use our Jeeps as they came out of the factory ;)

I used my Tazer to set tire size and fog light drop then pulled it and then plugged in the Smart Stop/Start module from Steve and it’s been that way for like 4-5 months and I don’t even think about Stop/Start as the module from Steve works perfectly and the Tazer one has know issues.

It's known. I've messaged them and they know about it. Just waiting for it to be fixed.
