Ok, I finally started configuring my Tazer for my new JL370. And, of course, it doesn't behave as desired.

1: I can engage winch mode readily with left arrow + res. It does nothing other than saying that it's engaged. No change in RPMs.

2: I can't reprogram the buttons. It lets me change them, but they don't stick. Maybe there's an "accept this configuration" step that I'm missing?

3: changing tire pressure associated with the flashing lights air up notification doesn't stick.

And yes, I've done lots of full reboots followed by two sleep cycles.

Sound from the stereo toggles between normal and nothing ever five or so seconds.

The backup camera shrunk and is surrounded with lots of noise.

Disconnecting this thing.

Thoughts @Rhinebeck01 ?

More often then not, (most always) such Tazer JL hiccups are related to user error and not the Tazer JL. Doing full reboot and the required, 2 Sleep Cycles properly is a must..

Carefully re-read the Tazer JL instructions and play close attention to the part about
"YOU MUST PERFORM A FULL REBOOT AND TWO SLEEP CYCLES. FULL REBOOT AND TWO SLEEP CYCLES."

Read this carefully...

Yes, I followed those instructions to the letter.

I removed it and now have a stereo, backup camera, and trail cam again (discovered that the trail cam was no longer usable).

Do umarry and then remarry the Tazer JL ....and then do one setting at a time and be sure to follow the WARNING(s) to the letter.

Again do one setting and then when you know you have that working then do your next setting.

I'm thinking you may be dropping the ball on the proper sleep cycles / properly done sleep cycles.

There is a learning curb so to speak... Take a break, a few hrs., a day and try try again. It's not at all unusual for a new Tazer JL user to lets say stumble a bit...

As one of the first adopters of the Tazer JL and having frucked with it for years, it is still easy for me to botch things up a bit if I am not careful.

When programming the buttons do they reflect those changes immediately or do you have to go through the full reset first? I tried both and never got them to stick.

I'll obviously try again, but the UI is pretty painful. The instructions could also use some basic big-picture tweaks.

I spent a couple hours tonight trying to get it to not bug out, but failed.

Steps
  1. Marry
  2. Stereo is screwed up
  3. Reset
  4. Wait for both countdowns
  5. Turn ignition off
  6. Exit vehicle
  7. Close door
  8. Wait for dash to go out
  9. Start a one minute timer
  10. Enter vehicle
  11. Turn ignition to run
  12. Stereo is screwed up
  13. Repeat 5 through 12 a few times
  14. Unmarry
  15. Repeat steps 1 through 14 a few times
I tried unmarrying and marrying like this a few times. With each iteration the radio and backup camera would screw up shortly after being married. I physically removed the Tazer once and that made no difference.

Thoughts @Rhinebeck01 ?

Just curious, would you happen to know what firmware is on the tazer?

I'm not sure what version it is, but I updated to the latest Saturday.
Given that simply marrying the taser causes issues with the stereo, I'd be trying to recover or redownload the firmware and see if you get any changes in the behavior.

Good idea. Unfortunately it usually sucks up at least two hours every time I screw with it.

Latest FW I performed without unmarrying. I reinstalled Tazer now service 4wd light won't go out. Before it would be on then go off after I started Jeep. I have aftermarket axles. I didn't change any settings I just updated FW and was told it was unnecessary to unmarry to Update FW. Am I wrong?

I finally had some spare time to screw with this again. I had assumed that there had been a subsequent firmware update that I was missing, but I just verified that I've got 11.3.9 / 8/26/2022 (the latest according to their update app).

While I had it connected to my computer I went ahead and re-flashed the firmware. I've put it back into my Jeep and the immediate / obvious issue of the stereo being screwed up seems to have been resolved. I haven't verified that other stuff is working as intended though.

This implies that the process of burning the firmware doesn't verify that it was burnt correctly. That's frightening for something that has such deep control over the behavior of our vehicles.
