So I just bought a JL Mini. I tried to update the firmware since I don't know if it is the latest. I bought it from Trail Recon and not Z Automotive. I downloaded the installer utility and the firmware on my Mac but I am unable to get the utility to open the firmware package. Should I just try to use it as-is? Z Automotive has no phone support nor any live chat support so I have not been able to reach anyone yet.

So use as is for now, if any updated features have been added that you want just program them after you get an update. I don’t have a computer and it does what I want. When and If I hear of a wanted update I’ll have my son do it at that time 🤷🏼‍♂️

Cool, I will try that and use it as-is. I had my wife use a windows laptop and she got an error and windows cancelled the download, so I'll use as-is and see what ZA responds with.

I , seriously, bought the cheapest PC I could find just to update the Tazer. It won’t work with a Chromebook and Mac support is sketchy.

I just updated mine a few weeks ago on Mac. At first it didnt update the firmware but finally went through.

make sure your Mac / software sees the tazer.
the program shouldn’t work if it doesn’t.

if all else fails reboot the Mac.

you’ll have to take the PC out of S mode to use the Tazer software.

Oh man, she is a paranoid programer type. I'll just wait to hear back from ZA on my Mac.

I THINK I have it done now. Downloading both files...that did not work. I even rebooted. Then I saw an UPDATE link and clicked on it. It started to simply do a percentage countdown to 100%. Took maybe 3-4 minutes and I think it did it. I am not 100% sure but it sure seemed like it. I hope that worked.

Normally (at least on Windows) it'll tell you the firmware version that's on the device. Did it at least do something like that?

I took an old mac i had and re-imaged it to windows for the tazer.

When you plug in the tazer and pull up the utility. You should see your tazers info on the top little box

So when I did that last update by simply clicking that Update link, it said it has updated to the latest (ending in .6 fro the previous ending in .5). Maybe that is the way to update it instead of downloading both files (the firmware and the utility). I'll plug it in and see this weekend. I'm off to the mountains in a couple of hours. I do think it is GTG now. Once I actually use the Tazer I will report back.
