I'm pretty sure the Windows app updated mine to 11.3.7 a few days ago.

I consider the Tazer a must-have.

From what happens with my experience it is normal. If I don't hold TC button for long press I will still have some nanny controls working. All the lights and warnings you have is what happens with mine. When I wheel and need 4 LO I don't like the nanny stuff. What I have found is when the TC button is activated by 4 LO engagement or if I short press it I have some of the nanny stuff working. What I have found out in my case is that if you don't have an updated version, when you long press TC button front axle will not engage. All the lights you commented about light up. You now have low range but only rear wheel drive. Shut off jeep and restart and all is back to normal. I updated tazer to latest version and now when I long press TC button and do a double tap on TC button I have both front and rear axles engaged. So I guess I have a choice now to run in LO range with rear only or both axels engaged. The long press of the TC button operation is listed in your jeep manual. I believe that with the newer JLs that the electronic clutch in TC is different. I could be wrong. All I know is that it now works as I need it to. Hope this helps. I would be curious if this works the same with you.
Here is a quote that I received from Z-Automotive.

"I'm thinking you may have old firmware in your Tazer. In the older firmware, there was a setting called Front Axle which would delete the entire DTCM module when set OFF. This would also kill the lockers and the transfer case position indicator. The old firmware also did not have the ForceAWD when in TrackKill mode.

Please check the firmware and make sure it's updated to the latest version (11.3.6) or at least 11.3.5. Unmarry first before updating in your case, as we want the DTCM enabled but FrtAxle set to NO. Then you can remove the FAD module entirely without issue.

With this new firmware you'd then press and hold traction to kill it altogether; invoking the factory Dyno mode where the factory tests these jeeps on a RWD roller. Double-tapping traction then would toggle you between AWD and RWD."
Thanks a bunch for the info. I was planning to pull it tonight and try the update again but I am just getting in and frankly don’t feel like mess with it tonight. Knowing there are other functions to the TC button and the tazer is not updated seems like an easy fix. Honestly it’s probably something I would have never even noticed had curiosity not gotten me at that moment. i guess it’s possible I may use some of those features one day but not likely. My wheeling days are over. I don’t have time for it and there aren’t any mountains in Louisiana although some of the roads are a solid 3. I think the last JK got put in 4wd 3-4 times and the one previous to that one never got put in a single time.

I just had this happen yesterday. Updated Tazer, using 4H and sway kill. I long held TC to engage rear locker and ABS light came on with service messages for ABS & TC. Freaked me out cuz I was alone n never seen before. But I was able to turn everything off and went back to normal.

So is this the Jeep & Tazer fighting over control?

I just ignore "ABS light came on with service messages for ABS & TC". It's a Tazer thing from what I understand. When you want to go back to normal running conditions turn off ignition and restart and all is normal.

I just plugged it in and hit update. Didn't know there were issues. ZPU doesn't tell you of course, and it fetches updates as if nothing is off. If someone doesn't go online search and see issues, they won't know. I just kept updating until it worked. Only later (after it did it's auto update stuff) did I find that it has issues ?‍♂
@Rhinebeck01 any word on when Tazer is going to support Mac again? The site still says "next week or two" and that is about 2 months old now.

Is Tazer just dead now for anyone not using Windows? I imagine Joe will lose a large portion of the market since so many people are using Macs these days.

@aug0211

So, you think Mac is the way most go these days....... ya sure about that...

Anyway, I have heard nothing recently in regard to the Mac programming utility.

To be honest I would not expect ZAutomotive to have a Mac programming utility in the near future if at all.

Naaah, ZAutomotive is not going to lose "a large portion of the market" ...... because it does not have Mac programming utility..

Remember, Tazer JL was first to market and is and always has been the # one programmer in use by guys and gals with a JL or JT.

Yes, there is the Flashcal, but it is laughable in comparison to the Tazer JL Mini.... and..... yes, there is JSCAN (I use JSCAN presently) but JSCAN is not the programming tool / is not at the same level / is not as feature rich, lets say as the Tazer JL Mini.

Suggest you and other's that are Mac fanboys, to find a friend with a Windows computer to do your Tazer JL updates... Windows computer's ... people with Windows computers are everywhere.

Your response seems off color and dramatic in the best case, or others might say off putting and seeking a fight. Over the computer we have in our home? Bizarre.

FWIW, we use a life saving medical device that requires a Mac computer. We bought the Tazer because it marketed Mac compatibility. The site, today, still advertises Mac compatibility as coming [EDIT: coming *back* as the product shipped with it and lost it in the last few months] In the next 1-2 weeks. The site has said this for a couple of months.

Not sure If you woke up on the wrong side of the bed or just passionately dislike Macs, but either way I suggest taking things down a notch. I will not plan to tag you for input again if your usual helpfulness turns into this ugliness when someone mentions Macs.

Regardless of your personal preference or apparent distinct passion for or against a specific type of computer, the Tazer sitehas advertised modern Mac OS support as coming in the next 1-2 weeks, for months.

Joe should either ship it, or update/take down this now misleading marketing.

@aug0211

OH well............... You tagged me / asked me.... and I gave you a to the point answer...

I could care less, if you or anyone else owns a Mac or a PC..

Yes, please do not tag me next time. Also, please place me on your ignore list...

By the way, talk/whine to Joe at ZAutomotive... rather then vent here/to me, etc.

I just set-and-forget my Taser. Is it worth pulling occasionally to update? I'm thinking if it ain't broke....but, I don't want to miss a usefull improvement(s).

@rickinAZ

Along with bringing new features to the table, firmware updates also remedy quirks that have been found in the preceding firmware version(s)..

Do take the time to go to ZAutomotive's website and read the notes for each version firmware following the firmware version you have on your Tazer JL presently.

You do not want to miss out on a new feature(s) that might please you... and for sure, you do want to remedy a firmware quirk that may bite you in the arse.

Best bet in general is to keep your Tazer JL firmware current...

I followed your advice and found a few improvements that I like. :)
Dumb question: do I need to unmarry the Tazer to remove it for updating?

@rickinAZ

Actually, Joe himself is on again and off again in regard to whether it is best to unmarry the Tazer JL before you update the firmware.. His usual answer is to unmarry before a firmware update,

In past phone conversations with me, he has told me it is best to unmarry but then occasionally in internet posts he says it is no big deal if you do not.

It may be that because the problematic Mac utility was in the mix, he'd say it was best to unmarry.

Anyway, yes, it is best to unmarry before a firmware update. Doing so is best as it lessens the chance of lets say issues.

And there is no such thing as a "dumb question".....
