Was gonna pull the trigger and buy one, Guess I will have to wait on getting one.

@EXPFDR

Because you see one such post, you would avoid such a terrific offering... A mistake on your part.

I won't comment on the Op of this thread but.............

Do your homework... forum research, etc. and decide whether you would want a Tazer JL Mini or to use JSCAN. Both are very good. Your needs should dictate which you buy.

I think he was referring to the Tazer not being Mac compatible at the moment. I'm in the same boat- ready to buy but only have Macs at home, so will have to wait for them to support the OS and go from there!

Well, was the MAC ZPU utility thing or the diss on Z's support or that the Tazer JL did not work..

As for you seeing a MAC, ZPU Utility from ZAutomotive..... ahhh. don't hold your breath...

For you as a Mac guy... and since you are a no go with Tazer JL for lack of a Mac ZPU utility.... I suggest you just go with JSCAN and also buy a SmartStopStart unit to deal with ESS..

I’m not sure if you’re confusing me with someone else, or conflating my response with another user’s response?

As I said- I’m ready to buy a Tazer, but will wait until there is Mac support. I don’t have regular access to a Windows machine at home or work, so I don’t want to purchase something that I cannot update or support from my personal laptop. No “diss” from me- I’d rather go down the Tazer route than the alternatives, so hopefully there will be Max support soon. Since OS X is build on bsd/unix, maybe a workaround that way and we can just command line the updates!

My comment about the Z Support diss, Tazer JL problem, etc. was in regard to the OP of this thread, not you...

Ok thanks! I guess I was putting too much hope in the “NOTE: Support for MacOS has been halted temporarily” notice on the top of the ZAutomotive website. I just assumed it meant Mac support will resume eventually (hopefully sooner than later). I’ve waited over 3 yrs to get a Tazer, but since adding larger tires this weekend, I wanted to finally pull the trigger. Time will tell! If I lose patience waiting or the tire/wheel change necessitates a change to the firmware sooner than expected, then I’ll research the JSCAN route. Thanks again for the insight!

Thanks Justine and I concur with your thinking. I guess I should of reference the lack of MAC OS support. Will check out the JSCAN, but still set on the Tazer when its Mac friendly again

Having some issues.

My CEL came on and I did not have any DTC codes that that Tazer saw.

Cleared CEL and it came back.

Tazer still didn't see any codes. Plugged Tazer into my MacBook and ZPU found an update. I let auto-update do it's thing.

Now my Tazer just flashes red/yellow/green really fast and I don't have any Tazer menus/functionality on my Jeep.

Plugged back into my Mac and ZPU doesn't even recognize it now.

Any ideas? I started with a working Tazer and a CEL light, and now I've got a CEL light and non-working Tazer. Oops.

Had the local auto store pull the code, it's DRC U1124 - Loss of serial communications for class 2 devices.

I'm wondering if this code is actually now thrown because the two cables are plugged into a Tazer which is just flashing pretty lights (and maybe not communicating)?

I am hesitant to go into my local dealership because even if I unplug my Tazer and hook up connections normally, I'm afraid it will still show that
I've flashed it and they'll void warranty and any repair or even diagnostic work around this DTC.

Any ideas on getting the Tazer back up and running?

Did you unmarry the razer before you unplugged?

Did you attempt plugging in the two tazer plugs back into the jeep?
Had not unmarried. I *did* get the Tazer back online a little bit ago after rebooting my laptop a few times and doing a restore firmware upgrade. Not sure why that worked.

Here is something that might interest you. I recently had to update my tazer and also have a Mac. I used a neighbors PC and all went well. Below is a quote from Z-Automotive.

"A recent update to MacOS broke the USB FTDI driver required for the Tazer (and many other small hobbyist electronics) to update over USB. Neither FTDI or Apple has a solution at this time, so for now we're offering an update service. Send it to us and we'll update it to the latest and send it back no charge."
