I'm no stranger to jeeps. We have a gladiator but had to sell our Rubicon last year due to financial hardships. Currently working with a dealer who is offering some wild discounts. Looks like a pretty well loaded Willys 4XE. MSRP of close to 65k down to $36k OTD. AM I missing anything here? Seems like they a bunch sitting and want to move them off the lot.

Think I can squeeze some more out of them or take it and run or RUN. We currently have a tesla and a small commute to work so Im looking to capitalize on the short distance Electric.

4xe values are tanking. People are trying to trade their way out of them, people don't want them, they are widely regarded as the worst powertrain in the Wrangler.

That's why they're piling up on lots and being sold at massive discounts.

There are people that have extremely strong feelings about the 4xe, either positive or negative. But yeah, that's a massive discount.

Does that OTD include the tax breaks?

I need a full written breakdown but 37k Is OTD verbally. I confirmed with the sales manager none of this was conditional incentives and discounts as they are a bit of a drive away.

Incentives -$12,750
Dealer Discount-$16,200

Have them send you the offer and post it. This past summer I agreed to a deal and when they sent the ppwk over they added $4k. Needless to say, I passed on the deal.

I am just curious what would be the lease payment on this deal? If someone does not qualify for the $7500 federal tax credit then leasing will be the way to go. ie if they offer the same discount on a lease.

This is one sweet deal

BINGO...Make sure that you take out a extended warranty policy on it, that includes a loaner/rental. Because you will probably need it. Two of my neighbors have them, and they have spent more time in their Dealers service department, verses their own garage. As for me, I don't need that hassle, for any price. But that is your call.........

You couldn't discount a 4XE enough for me to buy another one...
When everything works the way it's supposed to it's great...
But the other 9 months out of the year you'll be cussing it...

You nailed the reasoning. They're piling up on lots and nobody is buying them. Most people who wanted to try a hybrid have already done so, and their reliability concerns have burned a lot of people. A good majority of those who leased a 2021 will not return to lease a 2024. We still have a bunch of 2023s on lots and 2025s are already hitting show rooms.

Frankly I don't think any wrangler should be over 60k except maybe the 392. The prices they were asking on these things was hilarious to begin with.

You really don't need an extended warranty on a 4XE. The hybrid warranty covers so much and lasts way too long already.

Massive discount, but unless you live in a warm climate and have the commute/lifestyle that fits the super short ev range, I would pass. If you have to, I would lease.

They moved LOTS of 4xe's up here recently with massive discounts as well. Heck a local dealer has 8 392s with 30-40% off MSRP. Keep in mind the MRSP of the 392 in Canada is super high to start with.

Perhaps a stupid question, or naive but......the 4XE has the 2.0 Turbo engine AS WELL right? So...even if the Electric part is letting you down (or potentially could)...OP would still be getting a Jeep priced 45% lower than normal right? That's good right?

I'm guessing the prices he was quoted include all of the available State and Federal Tax Incentives

even if that’s the case, once you’re 25 miles out, you’re lugging around all the weight of the batteries which kills your gas mileage, which is one reason why people buy hybrids/eve in the first place.
