Looking at comps at Carmax, my 4xe would be priced right at ~$45k. I paid $53k (after EV tax deduction) and it will soon be two years old. Not as bad as I might have imagined. Of course, for a Wrangler, that might be a steep decline (dunno).
That's their selling price. If you were to trade it in, Figure 10-15% less on the high end. The real magical number is what a bank will look for (KBB, NADA, etc). Personally, if i have ever bought a used car, I look at comps and book value to negotiate a deal. That's just me though.

Sure, I realize that the trade in value is ~5-7k less. I just use their price as a retail indicator. Carmax is good for finding a reasonably accurate market value.

Not sure why anyone would be thinking they should be getting more for a used vehicle when the standard off the lot depreciation is at least 15-20%, put it this way if you don't want your new vehicle, and need to dump it, people aren't interested in paying a premium for it.

Traditionally Wranglers maintained value better than average vehicles after 5 years.

The crazy COVID days when we were trading in 3 year old Wranglers for 90%+ of their purchase price is long gone. Which is a wake up for people buying these things as "investments".

Think so? Based on the Willys, there are plenty of other places and sites that have them listed at much less with comparable features and miles. Carmax is one of the biggest upsellers in the market.

And i get that. However, my issue was when Stellantis issued their stop build and they were trying to move cars off the lot a few months ago, I went looking for a Rubi. Was offered 8-10k under what was owed. This was my own personal experience but others may be different. But if I wanted to trade in my jeep today before the lease was up, I'd be washing almost any discounts given on the new vehicle.

Caveat here is also my residual is much higher when I got mine than it is today.

I know based on that price what I could get from them +/- if nothing else. And I know that dealers here will typically honor their quotes. I’ve used their offers before when other dealerships have tried to lowball.

Up until recently the Wrangler was one of if not the best value depreciating vehicle on the market. It usually swapped #1 with the Tacoma depending on the year.

EVs in general usually depreciate like a rock, so when they first started coming out it was interesting to see if the Wrangler image could break that EV depreciation curse. They definitely are holding their value better than the generic EV, but with all the new vehicles being pilled up on lots with massive discounts somethings gotta give. Very little reason to buy a used 4XE when a new one is so cheap. If Carmax is selling them for $45k they'd probably only offer you mid 30s for it. I doubt they're selling very well on the used market. You'd be hard pressed to find a private buying for that price without the convience that Carmax offers.

The grand cherokee 4XE on the other hand does indeed depreciate like a rock. The Jeep image isn't saving that one. The hybrid pacifica's also depreciate like a rock, but they were voted the most unreliable vehicle in America two years in a row so that's to be expected.

I'm really curious to see their value ~10 years down the line. I wouldn't be surprised if a 20 year old JK has more value than a 10 year old 4XE, especially when that warranty expires.

Was reading this thread and decided to see what my local dealership has other offer. Looks like a great deal until you reach the part about 5000 miles a year.

once you’re 25 miles out, you’re lugging around all the weight of the batteries which kills your gas mileage, which is [otherwise] one reason why people buy hybrids/eve in the first place.
Yep. I've seen a few anecdotal posts from 4xe owners who posted positively awful gas-only (or gas-mostly?) MPG figures. As a fellow 2.0T owner, I knew that the engine is capable of better efficiency. It took me a moment to understand that the presence of the 4xe's battery, when it is effectively dead weight, had a larger effect on fuel mileage than I would've guessed.

I have a family member who's use case for a vehicle would dovetail perfectly with that "Ultra-low mileage lease" offer. She might drive 3.5K miles annually, if that. So, there are folks out there who are able to take advantage of such esoteric arrangements.

I'd strongly counsel her against even considering a 4xe anything, but that's a separate convo.

My 2021 4xe got ~11 mpg driving cross country. Averaging 75mph or so most of the way. Literally worse than the hemi

On stock tires running back and forth to the outer banks I could get 26 at 70-75 mph. Genuinely no exaggeration.

Incredible the difference there. I was dumbfounded when I saw how bad mine was. This is running purely on ICE, right? No charge? I never even remotely got that high. Running a mix of EV & ICE can dilute that number a lot

There would have been a full charge at the start of the ~270 miles. And driving with an intent to keep mpg as high as possible. Mixed use without charging, I see as low as 21. Of course, mixed use gives you more regen than long distance highway driving. Beach driving I saw 14ish mpg.

Like you people have tried dumping their gas Wrangler after a couple of years and are shocked at the low offers they are getting.

Check out gas Wranglers for sale, and look up their original MSRP.

Zero charge, stop and go city at around 15-25 mph I get 14-15 mpg, which is about the same mpg I got with the 3.6s JK/JL Wranglers.

Zero charge highway I get 23-24 @ 70 mph, the 3.6 I got about 23-25 mpg, depending. Some of my gas driving is e-save, but it's mostly Hybrid and using the manual shifter.

However the bulk of my driving is pure electric, so far this year I did 7,100 miles, 6,050 of that is electric.

The 1,000 gas miles cost me $477 Canadian dollars, only 340 of those miles were pure highway.

So simple math I paid $477 gas for 1000 miles, I would have paid $3,339 in gas at the low end for the 7,000 miles.
