No plans to take the doors off before summer, but may try it out to see how long it takes me. Do y'all take them off when you arrive at a trail or camp site? If it's not too time consuming, I'd like to drive the long highway stretches with doors, then take them off when we arrive at camp. Any tips for storing them outside for a few dry nights?

I do this every time. I bring a moving blanket for protection and lean them up against a tree. It only takes a few minutes.

Roll your window down before you take them off. Get yourself a long cable and feed it through all the doors. Secure them to something. Things just disappear when given the opportunity. LOL. Just my $.02.

It’s not that much time consuming, I think it took me longer taking them off the first time then it does now to remove them, the only advice I have is that I keep some painters tape in my jeep cause over the past when in a hurry I’ve put some scratches at the hinges during the remove/install process so I put tape there now to try and avoid this since my jeep is white and even the smallest scratches tend to stand out! As suggested by other members security is key depending on where you going to be leaving your doors

I haven't taken them off at camp, but have thought about it. Security and keeping them dry were my concerns, along with potential for critters to climb in there and make a mess.

But the more you do it, the more efficient you get. I believe it takes me somewhere around 10-15 minutes to take my top down (soft top), take the doors off, and put in my CMM mirrors.

To make it as easy as possible take the hinge bolts out and put them in the rear cargo tray…….forever. You don’t need them. Also, in the warm weather I disconnect all the door retainer arm things. The kids hate that the doors don’t stay open but I can immediately remove the doors at a moments notice without tools. Very, very convenient.

This - remove the bolts forever and get bolt covers off Amazon.

I do this quite often. I just find a tree or post to lean them against. I have a bicycle chain with a combination lock I got from Walmart. I thread that through the windows and around the post to keep them from wandering off. Throw a moving blanket over them when concerned about dust or rain.

does the door just rest on the pins and hinge? Not too worried about someone stealing doors, but wonder if it affects crash safety having one direction open like that

Bolt does make a "bicycle" style lock that matches to your Jeep Key Fob key only.

BOLT 7032295 6' Cable Lock for use with 2018 and Newer Jeep Center Cut Keys
Clever product! Perfect since I use my keys for manual doors already

Yes the door rests on the hinge just like they do before you put in the bolts. The covers are mostly cosmetic and go over the threads were the bolts would go. It looks nicer and they are round so it helps guide you when putting doors back on and prevents the threads from scratching paint.

You still have the weight of the doors, the latches when doors are closed, and the "metal door retainer things" keeping the doors on.
