I went with Shadeidea front and rears (2 pieces) after seeing a set of them installed on a Wrangler that I test drove at my dealer before ordering. They definitely fit nicely with tops on and had openings to access the freedom panel locksIām revisiting this thread as spring is approaching and wanted to see other members opinions before I purchase one, Iāve read online that some are versatile and can remain installed even whenās your softtop goes back on, or hardtop for that matter which have gaps near the front rail to give access to the freedom panel locks
So here are the ones Iāve seen so far any other suggestions please add to the list
Alien sunshade
Rugged ridge eclipse
J tops USA
Spiderweb shade
This is true, I only like to have one simply cause when we make beach trips and itās high 80ās or 90 degrees out and youāre stuck in traffic driving youāll end up with some nice sunburn on your head ? that could probably be seen from the Chinese ?ļøāFully agree. We load up to head to dinner and everybody is like āhey, this shade sucks, I canāt see the sky.ā Itās all about evaluating the proās and conās, intended use, etc. In my situation, it made sense to take it off and I have yet to consider putting it back on.
Exactly my situation. I removed my Spiderweb shade last year so I could have the full experience. I use a wide brim hat now.I have a Spiderweb shade . . . . packed away in a storage tote on a shelf in my garage. I have a soft top and quickly realized the benefit of a shade during peak sun hours did not outweigh what I lost in terms of late afternoon and evening āopen airā experience. Iād rather just roll in safari mode midday and drop the top for afternoon and evenings. Nothing against the shade, but I did not like having 80% of a top 100% of the time.
Update for ya, I took it out. I've had one too many nice days recently where I just wanted to flip the sunrider back but not go full topless and thennnn, it's like it didn't even matter.Fully agree. I installed a two piece Shadeidea this weekend. I choose white so it's still quite bright, yet still provides shade for me. The company claims the screen blocks UVThank you to everyone who mentioned it not feeling like you have the roof open with a sunshade installed. This was very helpful information and definitely a concern I had as I was about to order one and didn't want to regret it.
I think I'll be just fine keeping a hat in the Jeep.
I can tell you for certain that the alien sunshade, which uses bungees does not buffet in the wind. That thing is fucking TIGHT.We have a Hydro Blue 2 door Sport S with Hard Top on order and are looking for a sun shade to just cover the front passenger area. We'd like one that matches the Hydro Blue color, has the best attachment method that prevents buffeting at highway speeds and can be left on when installing or removing the Freedom Tops. Does such an animal exist?
It seems most use the bungy cords to attach to the roll bar. Years ago, when we had our JK, I thought there was one that attached the front edge of the shade to the windshield or front of the rollbar without the use of bungy cords so the leading edge did not buffet in the wind. Do these still exist?
That is a very generous offer! Our Jeep was just ordered last week, so we wonāt have it for 8-12 weeks (maybe)! Iāll shoot you a PM when I get home and can get on my computer.I can tell you for certain that the alien sunshade, which uses bungees does not buffet in the wind. That thing is fucking TIGHT.
Also I have the blue one by them. It was only on for a few months, but it had its fair share of 80mph drives and never flinched.
If you want to trial one I can send you mine. Just gotta pay the shipping for a USPS priority mail box. āIf it fits it ships.ā Usually like $10
I can tell you if I was in Florida I probably wouldnāt be getting rid of it ?That is a very generous offer! Our Jeep was just ordered last week, so we wonāt have it for 8-12 weeks (maybe)! Iāll shoot you a PM when I get home and can get on my computer.
