Sunrider position pointless?

My jeep doesnt have that warning sticker nor does it mention that anywhere in the manual about not running sunrider with the windows out.
Ive done that a few times going 80+mph with no issues. Doesnt mean i should or that it wont break anything, it just means they better warranty it if it does since i dont have those restrictions listed anywhere lol

Maybe this will help since you are looking at the 2018 manual. These are actual photos of from my 2019 manual. Clearly they state to put it down take windows down, not for sunrider position. They then added a warning sticker plus a supplemental page to make sure people understood to only take out windows if putting the top down. They changed things for a reason would be my guess.

Nothing that you’re saying is reflected in the words of the quick reference guide that you are posting pictures of. It very clearly states in step 4 to remove the windows, then goes on to describe what to do if leaving the top in the sunrider position.

It’s like the documents that say the front cupholder loner is removable (which it isn’t), and should be reconciled by FCA. That sticker with a red X is way too ambiguous.

My owners manual page 136 is about starting the engine. I feel like you aren't getting it. In the 2019 manual there is no contradiction. Period. You also failed to mention the clear as day warning sticker on the 2019 tan sunrider top I own that shows NOT to do this. While the 2018 manual might have screwed up, they obviously fixed it - as all my photos on my month old JL shows. What more evidence do you need?? They screwed up the manual and changed it cut and dry.

I almost always leave my windows off, unless the forecast says there will be a lot of rain. Then, I use the sunrider position quite often so my baby can ride in the back area. There isn't enough room for her if the soft top is all the way down. That is the main benefit I see. If the baby isn't in the back, then I definitely have the top all the way down.

And now, the baby at 10 months old...

Actually one of the things I'm going back and for about what roof eventually to order, we have a dog (45lb and fully grown) that will only ride in the back (I'm switching from a Tacoma because of that, kids are getting too big to have them and the dog on the backseat and there's no a/c in the truck bed with shell).

I have yet to look at a soft top in person, see if my dog could jump in with the back window down (he's aussie shepherd mix size) and if he'd have enough room if the roof is all the way down. I'm not even close to ordering, but eventually I'll have to go and measure things. Otherwise I'll get the hardtop with the Bestop sunrider roof, we had that on our rental in Moab and it was awesome. Don't really have the space for dual tops, my garage is pretty low and full of other crap. My current pref would be premium soft top. If the dog can climb in w/o me always having to unlatch that back window.

Ok, I posted pics of the supplemental saying leave the windows on, and showed a photo of my brand new, one month old JL with that warning sticker on the actual soft top. Not sure how much more clear it could be. My guess - things were breaking so they put up the warning sticker. Do not run the soft top in sunrider position without the windows on.

Also, yes what I posted says exactly what I said. It clearly states step 4 is for is "to lower soft top"!!!! Sunrider back is NOT lowering soft top.

Ok wtf are you talking about? Nothing I said had anything to do with your warranty. My post is clearly about proper operation of the soft top in sunrider position. I am sure, since they screwed up the wording in the 2018 manual, they would cover it if you broke yours.

I love the premium soft top, but I do have to unlatch the back window to get her in and out. Once in, there is a ton or room for her. My 78lb chocolate lab jumps up under the rear window easily for what it is worth. I have a 2 door and obviously have fold up my back seat.

Here’s another fun warning from the actual owners manual.

Caution: Do not move your vehicle until the top has been either fully attached to the windshield frame, or fully lowered.

I love the premium soft top, but I do have to unlatch the back window to get her in and out. Once in, there is a ton or room for her. The unlatching only takes a minute, once you get a hang of it and the material stretches out a bit from initial installation. Hard top is much easier for having the dog, but the dog definitely enjoys the soft top more!

Thanks, I think Django would too (though I'd have to "hard wire" him to something with a harness) and I certainly would. I'll have to check it out at a dealer one of these days, just hate dealing with sales guys, LOL.

Well then it must be because you have a 2018 and they weren’t built as well as the 2019’s.
