I hate the look of the gargantuan plastic schnozz on my new Jeep.
I would like to replace it with a tidy little stubby bumper.
I don’t want a winch. I will never want a winch. Please trust me on that.
So...I want a good-looking stubby with no holes or other provisions for mounting a winch. Does such a thing exist?
Cost matters too.

Thanks. Just did. 799 posts is kinda overwhelming, especially knowing going in that almost all will be winch bumpers.
I’m hoping someone knows of a simple, no winch stubby.
I don’t even care if it’s set up for fog lights.
Maybe I’ll just get one welded up out of 3x6 box tubing.

You can probably get a good deal on a take-off stock steel bumper and just remove the end caps (then replace the bolts). The only real winch provision is a steel filler-plate over the section where the control pack of a winch would stick up, and a a handful of bolts holding it in place. Besides those torx bolt heads, it's pretty stealthy. I think it would look pretty nice.

Thanks, b1er!
I don’t want to have to finish one, though. And those are crowding my budget, especially considering powdercoating, which I’m guessing would be at least $100.

Thanks, RetJoe!
That’s a good idea. The only mod I’ve made was installing a pair of new Rubicon rock rails I snagged for
$100 on Craigslist.
I’m frugal, and have no interest in extreme 4 wheeling. I’m amazed at what the stock Jeep can do. More than I need as is, and a sweetheart on the road. Don’t want to screw it up.
Anyone have a pic of a stock steel bumper? With and/or without endcaps?

I have winch on mine now but this only has 4 mounting holes you could cover with grommets or bolt on fogs, here’s with and without winch.....:)

Now we’re talkin’! These are just what I am looking for. Thanks all.
I got on Dallas Craigslist and there are some good-looking bumpers for older Jeeps, for ~$150. I have access to a good welder.
Would the mods required to make a TJ or JK bumper fit a JL be extensive?

I guess since the thread got moved, it’s dead. I don’t understand why that needed to happen.

I started this thread yesterday, was getting some good feedback when a “moderator” condemned it to the ghostbin of the “Exterior Modifications” forum. I cannot imagine why.
Of course it died there. No replies since.
Perhaps said “moderator” was having a bad day.
So I’m trying again:
I don’t want a winch, but I do want a cool front stubby bumper. And no, I won’t change my mind down the road regarding a winch. I lost my right arm to a winch in 1980. I don’t hate winches, or blame winches, but I don’t want a winch.
Cost is a consideration. I’d like to stay under $500.
And Mr Moderator, if you choose to effectively delete my thread again, please explain why, in comparison to many similar threads.
