Well, the whole thing :) was pondering "don't lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust corrupts, and thieves break through and steal..."

Always best to invest in people and memories and building others up. :) it's one of the reasons I bought my JLUR. That and I thoroughly enjoy it.

Now you know why you dont see any range rovers or G wagons out on trails lol. They get upset if sprinklers spray on their ride.
Good point. It's hard to take a $50K+ vehicle out and kinda tear it up!

I have already decided that when my painted fenders get scratched up, I will have them Line-X coated. I guess whenever the body takes a beating, well hell, I guess I will Line-X it too. That stuff is amazingly tough and looks really cool!

Get some cheap tube steps. They let you know when you're going to hit and take some of the brunt. My JLUS has 4500 miles and the steps have multiple flat spots on the bottoms of both sides. The undercarriage is still fine and when the steps look too bad I'll take them off and put on another cheap set. That is until I get a lift and bigger tires anyway.

I bought a set of rubicon rock rails for $140 on eBay. There’s always someone taking off stock to upgrade sooo

I got chips about two days after buying it because pa would rather tar n chip than pave. On the bright side mopar sent me touch up paint as a gift a day later. But while we are on the topic: whoever decided to put h/t tires on jeeps standard should be beaten. There’s 1k bucks I gotta waste now

My 18 JLUR got buried in mud up to the gills the first week, got a broken windshield the second (flat, vertical glass....asking for troubling), and got a squished trans cooler line the third. It always hurts a little (more than just the wallet), but I think of them more as scars that tell stories now.

The mud will eventually come off with multiple washes. It just takes time to get it all out.

1st Offroading, found some good Mud (not too deep) to thrash through.

You'll find the scratches really don't start rusting with the Aluminum wheels, and they're hardly noticable. I platidipped the grill after a few dings were incurred in Uwharrie, so they're pretty easily covered up. Having a blast!

Hello, everyone!

My JLUS is my second Wrangler, upgraded in the spring from a 2016 Sport 2-Door Freedom Edition. Never did any off-roading, other than a dirt road here or there. No mud, no rocks.

Spent a week up in northern Maine last week and took her out on logging roads and gravel/dirt/rocky trails. Nothing major.....no rock climbing or anything. I haven't upgraded anything, except I added mud flaps because of the pebbles that were being flung back at the body from the AT tires. Had fun driving through some muddy puddles and getting dirty, exploring some amazing views and getting "lost". It was a blast.

Then I came home to clean it. MUD everywhere. Lots of nooks and crannies for it to get trapped in. Need to wash it again in a day or two, could not get it all out. Noticed some damage to my wheels, a couple of good-sized nicks (probably from rocks) that will most likely rust and look like shit before too long. :( Also found a pretty nice gouge on the underside of the front bumper (don't recall hitting anything or hearing that happen, and by the looks of it, it seems like I should've heard it). Well, damn.

Sorry to take so long to get to my actual question, but how do you all deal with this type of stuff? How do you clean yours? (inside and out) Do I just have to decide if I want my Jeep to look perfect or have fun in it? Is it wrong to want both? Lol....but seriously.

I hear you and feel your pain...I just took my new stock JLUS offroad yesterday....mud,rocks,puddles etc....yes,scratched it up some...mostly clear coat scratches...mud everywhere etc...
I'm like you in that I like to keep it shiny and clean but had an itch I just hadda scratch.....not sure I'll do it again unless I modify it more but can't wait for a decent snow fall now.
