Just got mine back from the dealer. I have 14k miles since March. Its been in 3 times. They updated the steering software last time. This time they removed the stabilizer and examined all the steering components. They cant reproduce the wobble like I can. So they sent me on my way and said it was normal. It started 2k miles ago.

This is a Detroit newspaper. I think they(FCA) pay attention to local news outlets.

I had this wobble after hitting a small pothole today accelerating onto the highway. It wasn't scary, but certainly drew my attention. I've got 13,500 miles including some long highway trips and lots of off roading. It was weird. I'm wondering if it is the electrical side of the steering system that had a brain fart. We'll see if it happens again. Otherwise, the Jeep drives and steers wonderfully. I've got the 2" Mopar lift, btw.

Updated!!! It took about 4 days for my dealer to receive the steering stabilizer. Took the dealer less than 30 minutes in and out the door. It drives great. You can feel a difference. More dampening for sure. Tried to go over all the pot holes on the way home. It is fixed.

Tired of Death Wobble? Try a new Stabilizer shock this falcon 2.2 Adjustable is amazing. Factory one failed me at 4K miles, I could feel the road it was getting annoying fast. Totally worth the money if you feel like your shock is worn out especially with larger tires

I started noticing a wobble/shimmy a couple weeks ago when driving over a bridge on I-75 only one (1) mile from FCA HQ in Auburn Hills MI.
Checked out this thread tonight after watching a video piece on a local Detroit station warning about this issue.
Thanks much to all of you who contributed your knowledge and wisdom.
I’m at 7080 miles so that is consistent with many other owners’ stories. Snapped this pic tonight X092 so I’m in the club. Note the long vertical scratch next to the X.
I’ll be calling and texting this pic to my dealer’s service department Wednesday morning. @JeepCares

That link only lists a link that points to another thread on this forum. Not very helpful and kind of circular if you know what I mean. Was kind of hoping for a link to the actual bulletin. Tried looking up that number on Google and it only lead to this forum.
Believe me when I say we all feel your pain FrankieFJL. It's a pain in the ass for all of us to go through this. So with that said we work with what we got to hopefully better the situation.

I got a little bit of the wobble today again. 59mph, 33 degrees. It wasn't bad. It felt more like badly out of balance tires. I'm going to go ahead and rotate/balance again and see if it comes back. I was able to duplicate it twice, slowing down then speeding back up to 59. Otherwise, at other speeds, it felt great. A couple miles down the road, though, I tried again, hit 59mph, and it felt fine. Weird.

Anybody have the TSB number yet for the steering stabilizer?

It is in the Recall, TSB, Issues sticky thread at: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...r-jl-wrangler-check-your-jl-for-recalls.9784/ It is a case number, not a TSB. Case # S1819000004. It might be your tires as you said, but it would be a good idea to check the date code on the steering stabilizer.

Thanks! I'll be checking it this evening! I am pretty sure it isn't the tires, but it doesn't hurt to go ahead and get that done. They are due, at about 4k miles since the last time, and some hard off-roading in Moab. Those tires do take a great deal of weight, too.

I'm betting it is the steering stabilizer. Mine is a December 2017 build, so I'd be shocked (no pun intended ;)) if it had a number higher than 257.

Are the new steering stabilizers readily available, or is this going to be one of those deals where they keep my Jeep for an extended time while waiting for the part?

There are other posts on the JL forum where people had pre-2018 builds and the date code isn't applicable because they started the date codes over in 2018. Not sure if that is the case for your JL or not. Some said their dealership indicated the steering stabilizer is on back order until Feb 2019, but then others said they got their new OEM stabilizer in 4 days. I guess it depends on how resourceful the dealership is. Several have just replaced it with an aftermarket steering stabilizer, which appears not to have only fixed the bad OEM related steering stabilizer symptoms, but went beyond and is now driving/steering better than a good OEM steering stabilizer.

As I stated in my above post, You should be able to easily take to your dealer, confirm the needed part (steering stabilizer), dealer orders part while you drive your Jeep until it arrives. Took 4 days at my dealer. Took no time for them to replace it. Quicker than an oil change.

Great! I'll try and get it into them ASAP. My dealer is very good about taking care of things.
