Got around to taking pics for this today. So I would have rather pulled the dash panel out to remove the speaker, but that looked a bit more complicated than anticipated. There was a screw in a very inaccessible spot, facing inwards towards the passenger seat, and pressing up against the inside of the drivers foot area. There is no way to remove that screw without pulling the entire left side of the dash out.

I ended up just re-foaming this, and doing everything from behind the panel under the steering column. There are 6 press in clips that hold that panel on. Start from the top and work your way down. When re-installing this panel, be sure to place the white clips on the panel itself. It will make life easier.

I circled in red the part behind the speaker that was causing the vibration in my truck. Second pic is a bit of white foam rolled up and stuffed in. Third pic I added an additional bit of adhesive backed foam foil (kinda like dynamat), and a second piece of white foam. The grey clip on top also wants to vibrate, so make sure that is anchored too.

To really get this to act up, you can set your radio to Howard Stern and adjust balance/fader to front left speaker.

I’m having the same issue.
I can't provide any technical advice but if you end up going into the dealer, let me know. I can certainly document what you've been experiencing within a case file.

I’m having the same issue. It wasn’t too bad at first, but has gotten worse over the last few days.
As I mentioned to the other members, we're here to help if you decide you want to get this looked at by the dealer.

Just got back from a long 15+ hour road trip. Happy to say my repair is holding up. The grey clip on the top rear of the speaker pod is definitely the culprit. No Charlie Brown noise since the fix.

Haven't read this in a while. The sound is so annoying isn't it. I must read over your how-to again.

Yes! I just finished taking pics. But, it looks like you beat me to it. :like:

I put a little pressure on the Gray electrical connector and the vibration stopped. The connector is vibrating inside the black housing you took pics of, behind the speaker box.

I was thinking about removing the connector from the housing. Applying electrical tape around the connector, to fill the small gap between the connector amd the housing it plugs into.

If that doesn't work I will try the foam route.

Good Luck everyone!

So you took off the middle panel under the steering column?
Is there any way to get to that plug without taking the middle panel out?

I'm going take a small wooden shim and put it between the black and gray.

Has anyone on this thread had the dealer do a successful repair for this? I'm not confident in doing the repair myself yet also think I shouldn't have to. The dealer I bought mine wanted to replace the dash speaker. I told them that the sound wasn't coming from that speaker. But neat the lower speaker. They ordered the wrong speaker anyway so when it went in they couldn't do a repair.
I well print out your fix but they usually laugh when I tell them I got this from a forum. They usually deny that this is common.

My Jeep is in the shop for this issue today. I printed the posts out from this forum and have given it to the service team. I am hoping they resolve this issue. If they do I will post their fix.

I haven’t taken my Jeep in yet, so I’d be interested to hear if they resolve your issue.

My 2dr JL Rubi just arrived and on the drive from the dealership - I heard Charlie Brown's teacher. It's definitely during talk radio, pod casts, and commercials... but I can hear it during music - especially acoustic guitar... sounds like a busted fret. Took four frustrating months to get it - and this annoyance drains the excitement of driving. @JeepCares I will send you the info to open a case.

Upgraded system same problem here... it’s definitely a vibration/ resonance and not an actual speaker issue.... I haven’t had time to locate it but one of these days I will and I’ll put some sound absorbing closed cell foam on it... unless someone else comes up with a fix first.... most definitely seems to be a part of or behind the steering Column area.
Yes...I keep pressing on parts of the steering column to see if I can get the vibration to stop. I notice it most with my morning talk show voices and not so much with music but it’s very annoying. I’m taking her in next week.

I have this same issue, at the dealer for repair right now. They told me a module behind the speaker is throwing a code and might be the culprit. Stay tuned
