Just got back from a long 15+ hour road trip. Happy to say my repair is holding up. The grey clip on the top rear of the speaker pod is definitely the culprit. No Charlie Brown noise since the fix.
Got around to taking pics for this today. So I would have rather pulled the dash panel out to remove the speaker, but that looked a bit more complicated than anticipated. There was a screw in a very inaccessible spot, facing inwards towards the passenger seat, and pressing up against the inside...
Yeah, I hear ya. I had the 2" drop hitch on hand to test with. I'd say a 3" would be perfect. Before I spend money on another hitch drop, I'm either going to do a "spare delete", or work on a 1up rack adapter to fit behind the spare tire.
Got a PM asking about a 29er mountain bike fitting. I've been running it this way since my 1up rack doesn't work. The Rubicon spare tire hits the rack, even with a 2" drop hitch.
This is a size large 29er. Long bike for sure. I'm not sure if a XL would fit this way to be honest. What does work...
it sounds like you have a ground issue, or a loose wire. If it was me, I'd be reaching up and under the dash panels and jiggling wires till the issue happens, then marching down to the dealer and pointing fingers
Same issue for me, 2 door JL with Alpine. At first I though it was a problem with the noise canceling system, but its not. I pulled the dash panel off and was able to isolate the issue to the back of the speaker pod. There is a clip on the back of the pod, with no dampening material in between...
Well, I got mine! I'm really sorry for those who are waiting, but mine came in "all of a sudden". My order was 1/20/2018, so I've been playing the waiting game for a while. I worked with Nielsen Jeep in NJ. I can't say enough good things about Lexy, my salesperson. Nice girl, solid salesperson...
Heard the delay news, can't say I'm thrilled either. I actually just shopped for a Tacoma (would be my third) earlier today. After seeing this article on Jalopnik though.. I'm taking it as a sign. There is a reason we are all interested in a Jeep; because they kick ass. I'm sticking this out...
Its a 2 door for me as well. I went back and forth between the 4 door and 2 door endlessly. I did have a 2 door TJ for a few years, and have spent many a road trip in my buddies 4 door JK.
I plan on removing the backseat on day 1. For me the 2 door is just a bit more simple. Better looking...
I run a 1up rack with the fat bike add-on. I'd really like the rack, and currently have to remove the bike to access my Land Rovers trunk space. I have a 2-door JL coming (soon I hope!).
The ultimate goal for me would be a rack that mounts behind the spare tire carrier, and goosenecks a single...
Just ordered my 2-door. I had a 2 door TJ that I loved. If I need to move anything big, I have an old beater pickup for that. My only real worry with the 2 door space is being able to fit a modern geometry 29 inch mountain bike (long wheelbase) with out taking off the rear wheel. I usually rack...
