For anyone taking delivery on a new Jeep check the equalizer settings before you crank the snot out of the system. This is for stock or alpine. I noticed all levels for mine were cranked to full and if you crank up the volume set like that you have a good chance of blowing a speaker.

Drop the levels before you go and crank it up.

Put the bass to max and listen to talk radio. A guy like Howard stern with a deeper voice really makes it crazy. It has to be just a vibration in that space. When you hear it push on the speaker screen. I still haven’t taken off that panel yet.
I found a track which reproduces the issue pretty efficiently and I'll be showing my dealer. It's not a bass heavy track at all, it just hits a tone which must be vibrating something in the dash. When you have some time, can you do me a favor and see if this does the same for you? It's very noticeable at the beginning of the track and you can move the balance around. It's basically gone when moved anywhere other than the front left side.

Portishead - Roads

If you have Spotify here's a direct link:
https://open.spotify.com/track/2sW8fmnISifQTRgnRrQTYW?si=WXhxC9Z3R0e4AeBgfiqCEg

I'd be curious if anyone else is having this issue to give it a shot and report back. :)

Thanks!

I have the same issue. It doesn’t seem to always be present. I’ve noticed it when using Spotify and satellite radio. I have a Rubicon with the upgraded sound system.

I don’t think I heard the same sound on this song. I just heard really bad music!

Yeah, it's not a favorite but I was able to replicate the vibration with the track pretty easily. I'll have to try and record it and I'll be mentioning it to the dealer soon too. I still hear it during radio commercials and when announcers are talking..etc.

Upgraded system same problem here... it’s definitely a vibration/ resonance and not an actual speaker issue.... I haven’t had time to locate it but one of these days I will and I’ll put some sound absorbing closed cell foam on it... unless someone else comes up with a fix first.... most definitely seems to be a part of or behind the steering Column area.

Julie, this seems to be an issue with many JL. How many complaints do we need to submit for a recall

Thanks Dan

I dealt with a month ago.

I took it to dealership, they had my jeep for 4 hours, tell me it' a blown drivers side dash speaker and are ordering a new one.

Week later they have jeep for 7 hours replacing the speaker, while driving home I put on sport talk radio, then bang head into steering wheel...nothing changed still reverb voices.

Dealer has 0 clue what it is or what to do.
I'm having the same issue! Dealer replaced the front left speaker as well, didn't change a thing. Have you figured it out?

Same issue. just started yesterday. Ive had the jeep for 2 months without issue then yesterday morning it started. I thought at first it was wind noise coming in from freedom top but after searching all over I agree I think its some sort of steering column rattle. Ridiculous with $50k vehicle. Come on @JeepCares, fix this crap.

Same problems for me. I have two main areas of vibration - the center dash tray and the roll bar plastic. I can silence the roll bar by putting pressure near the rear dome light. I had the same issue with my 2008 JKU and stuffed it with polyfil which fixed it.

I personally don't think it should be my job to dampen vibrations with the premium sound package. The car should have been dampened with a dynamat equivalent by default by FCA.

Hi Christopher,

Since we aren't trained technicians, we wouldn't be able to fix this. However, if you're planning on taking it into the dealer, let us know. I can escalate your inquiry to a Case Manager who'll work with you and the dealer toward a solution.

I’m assuming no one has gotten this issue resolved. It’s a weird issue. Sometimes the sound happens and then the next time the same song plays it sounds fine. Makes it not worth taking to the dealer because I may not be able to reproduce it.
