If you can use a PC on forums like this, you can use the phone app, JSCAN. JScan – OBD JScan – Mobile Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge Diagnostic ToolAnyone had their regears done and had the dealership program the gears? After a swap, not a replacement. They are saying they can only program the gears for the replacement with same gears, they can't program with a new gear ratio. Help!
I looked into jscan and liked it over tazer, since I don't care about all the foo foo stuff and just want my gears and tires programmed. But I came here hoping the dealership could program it permanently in the build sheet like a tattoo. Also Im now screwed since if I go with an aftermarket doohickey I'm still out of a vehicle for a couple days waiting for it to arriveIf you can use a PC on forums like this, you can use the phone app, JSCAN. Who did the regear? Can you take it to a competent 4x4 shop?I looked into jscan and liked it over tazer, since I don't care about all the foo foo stuff and just want my gears and tires programmed. Go buy yourself the ECRI programmer. That is what I used and it really is beyond simple. If I can do it anyone can. It’s only around $120.00I can't run away because my *manual* jeep won't go over 20mph because the computer is confused. Regear done over the weekend and towed here to program the computer
Potentially. I am looking into that. I had it done by at someone's house that has a lift, tools, etc. The regear job went smoothly but they I guess didnt have what's necessary to reprogram things. And to my knowledge the dealership is the only one that can do a permanent program for gears/tires. So we just went with that.Who did the regear? Can you take it to a competent 4x4 shop?
I'm confused. You took it to the dealership to get that detail onto the build sheet??? Yet you did the gear change at someone's house? But I came here hoping the dealership could program it permanently in the build sheet like a tattoo.
That makes zero sense. Are they claiming to only be able to reset it to stock? Ask if they ever install different gears in Jeeps since they need to reprogram those. They are saying they can only program the gears for the replacement with same gears, they can't program with a new gear ratio.
Dealership is trying to modify Sales Code on the Build sheet instead of simply changing gear ratio in the ECU. If OP ever gets any Updates / Flashes it would go back to stock gear ratio which would have to be recalibrate again. Same with tire size.I'm confused. You took it to the dealership to get that detail onto the build sheet??? Yet you did the gear change at someone's house?
Note that the build sheet can't be modified.

It sounds like it'll be days before this is resolved at that dealership. Seriously consider getting a Tazer or JScan and do it yourself. Or taking it to another dealership.
Note that the Jeep shouldn't be going into limp mode for this. How much of a change in ratios did you do?
