I've done some looking around and can't find any real world experience. I'm looking at a new Sport S that comes with the 3.73 gears. I'm going to do the 2" lift and run a 315/70/17 tire and new rim. The rim and tire combo will weigh in at 97 pounds. Will I be alright without a re-gear for a while or will i be disappointed if i wait? I only go on the highway to go on fishing and hunting trips. It will be 90% city roads and the rest between highway and off-road. Thanks for any help.

All JL Wranglers come with 3.45 gears. The Rubicon has 4.10. You should be fine with 3.45 for city and highway driving. It might be a little slow off the line and may have trouble holding 8th gear with the auto.

So there is not a 3.73 with the standard trasmission?

No 3.73 from the factory. It is available with the JK, but not the JL. It can be added aftermarket.
I read things wrong and that helps with decisions. If i had to regear i would go 4.58 for 35's.

DANA offers 4.10, 4.56, 4.88 and 5.13 for the JL Sport D30/D35 axles.
That was a typo supposed to say 4.88. My elk hunting spots are at 10000ft and some steep spots.

Here are the ratios of the manual if you want to plug into online calculators.

1st – 5.13
2nd – 2.63
3rd – 1.54
4th – 1.00
5th – 0.81
6th – 0.72
Rev – 4.49
