So I have the 2.5 RC spacer lift on the jeep for about a year and half and all is going well there. I added Fox 2.5 shocks last week (which seem to be better than the red Rubicon ones I just took off).

The problem is when I hit a speedbump or any hard bump, the back of my jeep seems to hit HARD almost like its hitting the bump stop.

Do I need longer springs also?

is everything tight?
just riding around seems okay, but any bump (like hitting the usual bumps where roads connects to bridges) or speed bumps (i go slow) its like WHAM...

the only thing that is still factory is my springs at normal height...its gotten worse with my longer shocks...ALOT worse

Are these the 2.5 shocks that come with the mopar lift or 2.5 race series reservoir shocks?

So just to be clear, you bought the 2.0 shocks you just posted a picture of. In the OP you said you bought 2.5 shocks.

Sorry man, may have been a typo. These are for lifts 2-3inch. But I have a 2.5 lift...RC spacer lift though.

Since you were running OEM shocks, you must have had shock spacers. Did you happen to leave those in when you added the FOX shocks?

Also, let's see a pic of the rear so we can see what's going on.

To be honest, I am not sure. I had a neighbor install (has his own auto mechanic business) I didn't ask. Should they have stayed?

No. If they were left in, the shock will sit pretty deep in the stroke, and bottom out during compression. You should go check to make sure, and if you don't know what you're looking for, post a picture of your rear axle where the shocks bolt up.

No. Not if you have shocks for 2-3" of lift. if the shock spacers are still in there the shock would be too compressed and have no uptravel. Kind of sounds like what's going on. It would bottom out pretty quickly.

Yep. That's the problem. Those spacers on the bottom need to come out. Make sure they come out on the front too.

Hopefully you didn't damage the shocks bottoming out.

*sigh*, well it totally makes sense now. Nah I think they are okay.

Couple of questions.

1. Will I lose my lift back there taking these out?

2. Do I need to jack the jeep up, or what is the procedure on removing them?

Thank you all for helping and diagnosing so quickly!

1. No. lift height is not determined by the shocks.

2. Yes. You will need to droop the suspension to get the shock to line up with the mounting holes. Unless you're super ripped and can compress the pistons by hand. ;)

You can remove all 4 shock extension brackets on the ground, no need to jack the jeep up, not that hard to compress the shocks. Make sure you get the fronts as well. The exension brakets are just on the bottom mount of all 4 shocks.
