Mine is a two door.Reviewing this thread this seems to have happened to only 4 door models, not 2 door models. Is that correct?

I had the exact same thing happen with my JL - twice. 1st time I managed to stop but second time I was on the highway and it got destroyed. Both times I had the front part of the soft top folded back. I think when the top is folded back the front edge of the side panel has a tendency to pop out of the slot on the pillar and the wind pulls the panel off when at highway speed. No such issue with the old zipper design. It was a real pain trying get a replacement. My top was not original on the Jeep - I had the dealer add it when I purchased the Jeep - so the top was not connected with the VIN. Had several calls with Mopar and finally had to go back to dealer. It took the dealer about 45 min to try and locate the right part number. It seems this may be happening a lot. Had to wait several weeks for the new panel. Dealer said that it appears Jeep have changed suppliers a couple of times. New panel cost me $300 with shipping. On the highway today and the rear driver side premium soft top window blew out and hit the highway. It was run over of course. Top up and windows down, Speed was 65 I know all the flaps were tucked and the channel threaded properly as it took the tapered tip with it. At least with a zipper it would stay with the Jeep. Anyone else have issues with the window not staying in-place? A full line of Velcro on the top might be better than just the small patch.
I have a '19. Mine has velcro. Did the 18's not have velcro? All three were locked in. All I can imaging is the inside pressure bowed it out and it popped out. Top closed but door windows open. There was a loud pop and it was gone. I plan to put Velcro on where I can in the future so if it were to let go again it will stay with the Wrangler.
BUT, what would be the sense in even having a sunrider position if you can't leave the windows in? I mean, why even make it an option, if you have to take the windows out, you might as well just put it all the way down. Seems like you SHOULD be able to leave them in for the sunrider position. I've done it several times with no problems but this scares me.Yeah... that will be my new way to roll. Those windows are expensive!
18s have Velcro retainer swatch for the side windows, at least on the premium model. Pretty sure the 19 softtops are exactly the same as the 18.I have a '19. Mine has velcro. Did the 18's not have velcro?
Iāve gone with the sunrider position a million times since it happened without issue... but occasionally I hear a quick āWUPā sound from the soft windows flexing as the air rushes through the cabin and I think ānot againā. But nope... not again, thankfully.BUT, what would be the sense in even having a sunrider position if you can't leave the windows in? Have you reported it? These windows need to be recalled. Back to zippers or more Velcro.Had one come partially out a couple weeks ago. All the fold in parts came out, but the top part stayed on the track. Wasn't even on a highway...just on a 35mph road. Hasn't happened again, bit concerning though.
