What’d you mean by “rolled up and in place?” Was your back window rolled up? If so, that was your problem. The back window holds in the side ones, and the manual clearly says not to run with just back window out.
I took it that he means the glass door windows were rolled up (other than the driver window) and soft windows were in place.

Ohhhhhh... OK, nevermind my comment. I thought he had the back soft top window rolled up and only the side ones in.

Anyway, sounds like you have a good service advisor. You owe him a bottle of whiskey. Next time, keep all three back windows in and secured before engaging sunrider.
Front & rear windows (in the doors) were rolled up except for the driver door window. The soft rears (sides & back) were all in & fitted properly.

No—what Jeepjunkie said. The dealership told me the sunder position (front flipped back, but still engaged in track—not fully dropped—folded back only) was intended to work with all the soft windows in. I do understand that I need to take them all out for full retraction—it's pretty impossible to retract without removing them.

“...sunrider position, my arm was out the driver window, and all other windows rolled up/in place...”

The 2019 manual says not to lower the top without removing the windows. It also describes/illustrated the “sunrider position” with taking out the windows then folding it open but not slid all the way down the tracks. So if you have your top open or off the windows have to come off too or I guess this is going to happen.
Yeah... that will be my new way to roll. Those windows are expensive!

Dealerships are also putting in 6 quarts of oil when the Pentastar 2018+ only holds 5, and they never heard of any steering problems in the JL, and all the other stories you can read on here where the dealers know less than you think. It’s Step 1 in the manual’s instructions for “Sunrider” position, remove all the windows...

Heard. I've had steering issues as well—my dealer has never heard of a problem—I get it.

Hello, I'm new here! I just bought a Jeep 2 weeks ago and just had this happen on a bridge. I watched as the window flew into the Tampa Bay :( I called the dealership and the lady told me I would have to bring the Jeep in to have them look at it to see if it was a user error or a Jeep issue. I told her there is really nothing to look at, I can bring it in if they want, but everything looks normal, with a missing window. She said she would talk to her manager and they would call me back. So we will see. I told her to the best of my knowledge it was installed properly, but I can't know for sure. Ill let you all know what happens.

How were you configured? We’re your door windows up, down, 1 or 2 or more, drivers, passenger side etc? Which window(s) blew out?

I have had this happen to me a few times as well. I haven't lost the window however the rear window has popped out on the one side. This happens when I am in Sunrider with all the back windows installed and I have the door windows up or down. Also it has happened with I had the top completely up and back windows in however all the door windows down.

I contacted FCA and they set up an appointment for my local dealer which I just came from. As a result of their test drive they are replacing the rear window. Hopefully this fixes it, I suspect it may not.

Hello everyone, first post here.

Has anyone thought of a way to add support or secure the side or rear windows? I was thinking of somehow tethering the inside bottom of each side window. Something small and not obtrusive. I really don't want my windows to blow out and like driving in the sunrider position but have been hesitant to roll the windows down or take the doors off because of this.

There are only two reasons a windows will blow out: 1) improperly installed, or 2) manufacturer defect.

I see no need to try enhancing the design on your own. Flip back that top and enjoy your Jeep!

If you’re referring to the two flaps on the back window, that is not the same issue being discussed here. Rather, it’s this (annoying but benign) issue: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...8-jl-had-this-soft-top-issue-corrected.31630/

So, had to take my 2019 in for this issue.

When driving on the highway the right side back window kept blowing out on me. I took it off today and inspected the track on the window that slides into the plastic notch on the top end of the softtop, there was a huge bulge in the track on the window. What was happening is the bulge was causing a loose connection on the window track so every time I would open my windows doing about 50 or above the window would start to come off the track.

Side window is being replaced under warranty.

Reviewing this thread this seems to have happened to only 4 door models, not 2 door models. Is that correct?
