Small leak on the front diff drain plug

So my 2018 JLU Sport S has a small leak at the front diff drain plug. Just enough to make a mess of the garage floor.

So in looking at it it looks to have a copper washer/gasket? Is that reusable or need to be changed out? I thought maybe it was loose so I looked up the torque spec to verify (25 ft-lvs) and tightened with my torque wrench so it’s not leaking from being loose.

The downsides of those early JL is this drain plug on the bottom of the diff. I forget when they fixed that, but those things get shredded off so easily so I understand.

Don't hold me to this, but I believe it's supposed to be flush with the bottom of the differential. I'll try and find that video from @Casey250 that mentions this.

You can use a dremel to clean the square up. This is very common.

I’d just weld it shut and forget about having a drain plug.

There seems to be 2 plug types available. The smaller plug that looks like the fill plug and then the big bastard in mine. This is a replacement axle from after our accident, I vaguely remember the original axle having the smaller.

I will source a replacement smaller plug and do a fluid change and swap it out.

That does not look like a stock OEM plug to me. I’d replace it with stock and put some pipe seal on it.
