For the last year diesel was move expensive then premium. Now everything has switched to renewable #2 in San Diego. Skepticism about the new fuel aside the price is no longer attached to petroleum prices so it’s now $0.20 under regular :)

You really can't tell from the picture, but the fuel tank needle is at about 1/16 of a tank left. I'm going to head back out in a little bit and spend off the rest of the fuel in there and fill up and my next post should be the final numbers.

Really good though, I never expected in a million years I'd be getting 35 mpg. Should be interesting to see if the final numbers match that.

Be careful starving your fuel pump bro, that can get nasty real quick.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still beating the build sheet MPGs by 1.4 MPG.

I was kind of hoping closer to 35mpg but I understand there's a lot of fudge factor in the trip timer. It's definitely the best MPG I've achieved so far. Should be interesting to see how this changes once I'm running 35s and not dumping soot back into my engine anymore. Maybe another attempt in the fall... ?‍♂

Yes you are, by a wide margin, I was averaging about 28.3 MPG at 70 MPH, but I'm more happy with my 25.2 mixed city/HWY average....

How much have you stripped off of it? I've added a hell of a lot of weight to mine, but I'm pretty sure you went in the opposite direction.

So the front bumper and winch adds about 250 lbs.

The carpet probably weighed like 10 lbs, The rear seats were probably 150 lbs, The spare tire was like 100 lbs, and the tailgate was probably another 150 lbs, All of the trim I removed was probably 10 lbs total..

I don't know I think in the long run the weight I removed Probably didn't make a big enough difference. I think the biggest thing that helped was the lack of idling I did. I would start driving after 30 seconds of warming up. And I wouldn't let it cool down after I came to a stop, I just turn it off the second I pulled the parking break up. And then I was super feather-like with the throttle. I was trying to mimic how slowly the cruise control increases the speed of the vehicle when I was pressing it with my foot.

I'm lifted a few inches, 35 inch tires, added weight of front and rear bumper, swing out spare, recovery gear and such always and ski racks. I live at around 5000 feet above sea level, and drive a canyon ski commute every Sunday. I don't baby it at all in fact I really enjoy the torque and am fairly heavy on the pedal. Lots of short trips and a freeway commute in traffic to work. I always get 18-20 average. Diesel is about 4 cents per gallon less than premium now in Utah.
I used to have a similarly built JK and was lucky to get 12-13 mpg.
I have been so glad to have the diesel. It's torque and great sound make it a blast to offroad, and I live in off road Mecca so it gets a trip nearly every weekend. I can't say enough how happy I am to have bought one. I know there is some garbage tossed around about this powertrain but I wouldn't trade it for a Hemi. Now I just need to figure out which tune to get
