Just had mine replaced with GG. Glass shop told me it comes with a 100% replacement good for one year from date of install.

I've walked out of glass shops with that impression, then had them clarify that it only covers defects when I tried to get the cracked (non-GG) windshield replaced.

Your experience with GG and your specific glass shop could be different, of course. As far as I can tell Corning doesn't provide the warranty you described.

Here's the Gorilla glass warranty on our rigs:

MOPAR WINDSHIELD MADE WITH CORNING GORILLA GLASS WARRANTY

Mopar Windshield Made with Corning Gorilla Glass has a 2-year limited (from date of install), unlimited-mile warranty, which provides for labor and parts needed to repair or replace your windshield under certain conditions.

Mopar warrants your windshield from damage associated with road debris such as pebbles or other small objects which may cause initial damage larger than a US quarter (1 inch/25mm) and less than 3 inches/7.6 cm. Larger instances or smaller blemishes, along with the subsequent cracking that may be caused by not repairing them, are not covered by this warranty.

Dealer requires proof of purchase and windshield will only be repaired or replaced under the warranty once within the
warrantable period.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED:
Damage caused by any other force such as an accident, large debris, fraud, falling objects or other acts of God are not warrantable.

The damage from road debris referred to in this section is warrantable notwithstanding other provisions in the Mopar warranty.
Additional exclusions may apply.

I don’t have Gorilla Glass in my 2018 JLUR (55,000 miles) but I just put in my 5th new windshield. Thankfully I have 0 deductible glass coverage.

No don't do it, not worth the cash. My 1st Gorilla glass from the factory lasted 10 months and was lucky to get Mopar to replace it. 3 months later the replacement Gorilla Glass is cracked and I am replacing with regular glass. 2 Gorilla glass windshields cracked in 13 months tells me it isn't any better than plain glass

Stock windshield just got a nice crack today on the highway and its only been 100 days since I picked up the truck.

Stay with the regular glass or go gorilla?

what exactly needs to be "re-calibrated"?
are there actually sensors *in* the glass itself?

We had a hell of a time getting our Gorilla Glass windshield replaced under warranty in the Denver area. We went over 2 months farting around with multiple dealers and working through Jeep Wave. It's like they just didn't want to bother. Finally our Jeep Wave rep got permission to let us take it to SafeLite for GG replacement and calibration then reimburse us. I was a bit worried, but they did send the reimbursement check ($1,279.01) promptly. For us the $100 upgrade at order time saved the insurance deductible, we just had to deal with a PITA warranty process.

The Jeep warranty only covers one replacement, so future replacements will be through USAA and SafeLite, which I know from experience is a streamlined and painless process.

The Advanced Safety Group has camera/sensors between the mirror and windshield for adaptive cruise and, I believe, automatic high beams, which require recalibration when the windshield is changed out.

what many people don't seem to understand is that Gorilla Glass is just the same Soda-Ash Glass on the outside layers as the standard stock windshield; the Corning GG is only the inside layer (and it's thinner than the original glass).

the GG stack makes for a stronger windshield that is less likely to allow a projectile through it. whether the increased thickness of the outer layer helps it perform any differently (better) than a stock windshield is a matter of much debate.

that said, i personally paid the difference for the GG upgrade after seeing what a large projectile that came from the oncoming side of the road did to our windshield.

yes, but are the sensors *in* the windshield?

seems to me that this 're-calibration' is a scam on the Wranglers, as nothing changes when the glass is replaced.

was there supposed to be a point here? all i see is text we either already saw, or wrote.

please explain; what exactly is to be re-calibrated if the sensors are separate from the windshield?
if the sensors aren't mounted to the windshield itself, what needs to be "re-calibrated" when the windshield is replaced?
remember, the windshields are these things are designed to move; are they going to "re-calibrate" it every time we drop the windshield and put it back up?

You reasked a question that was already asked and directly answered (i.e., "are the sensors *in* the windshield?"). All you had to do was read and comprehend the information that I had already provided. You also asked what needs to be recalibrated. I answered that too, based on my understanding.

If you want to argue about the particulars or the legitimacy of recalibration, call 1-844-533-7928. I'm not your Jeep rep. It's not my assertion to argue and I'm not interested in going round and round on your pointless need to argue with someone. I'm just a guy who had his windshield replaced by SafeLite under warranty. Feel free to pursue your argument elsewhere.

I've come to understand a crack in a wrangler windshield is a feature, not a problem.
