Got a crack across the bottom left of the windshield on our 2021. I was wondering if it’s worth it to replace it with the Gorilla Glass, or just a regular one.

After 4 windshields we’re here to tell you only your wallet will be able to tell the difference. 1st gorilla glass replacement should be free under warranty, you may need to do some leg work, but should be replaced. That will be gorilla glass.
After that it is up to you, our insurance deductible was 500 on comprehensive, so we went with an inexpensive windshield shop for 300. And updated comp to 0. When windshield #3 took a rock insurance replaced with gorilla glass. When gg #3/#4 overall also took a rock ins replaced with oem mopar…
17 mos, 30k miles 5th windshield has almost 3 mos on it, probably due for another.

My insurance deductible was $500 on a $600 standard oem windshield replacement. The shop was able to get the insurance to agree to pay for the gorilla glass upgrade. It was the same $500 deductible cost to me

You don't have to decide yet since the first replacement is covered by warranty. Mine is being replaced now.
I have had my gorilla glass replaced once so far. I asked whether subsequent damage would continue to be replaced under the Mopar two year warranty, and the woman said yes, but I'm guessing you might know more than she does, as she seemed less than confident.

To the OP. The cost to Mopar to replace my class was $2100. If any of that has to come out of your pocket to switch to gorilla glass, I would not do it.

We had a hell of a time getting our Gorilla Glass windshield replaced under warranty in the Denver area. We went over 2 months farting around with multiple dealers and working through Jeep Wave. It's like they just didn't want to bother. Finally our Jeep Wave rep got permission to let us take it to SafeLite for GG replacement and calibration then reimburse us. I was a bit worried, but they did send the reimbursement check ($1,279.01) promptly. For us the $100 upgrade at order time saved the insurance deductible, we just had to deal with a PITA warranty process.

The Jeep warranty only covers one replacement, so future replacements will be through USAA and SafeLite, which I know from experience is a streamlined and painless process.

Did you have Gorilla glass from the factory or you thinking about "upgrading" to Gorilla glass?

Thinking about upgrading, wondering if it’s worth it.
The general consensus is that the GG price exceeds the additional GG crack resistance. So many find it more economical to replace a standard windshield more often.

Wait a minute, gorilla glass has one free replacement? Mine is cracked, and I was just about to make a claim through my insurance.

Do you guys just go to the dealer for this?

OP, technically speaking Gorilla Glass is stronger. A strong enough impact will crack any windshield. I believe people don't realize how many times they were hit with smaller rock chips and nothing happened because they had Gorilla Glass.

I opted for GG, and yes, my windshield is cracked, but It was a big stone that came flying off a semi. My brain processed it in slow-mo and I knew it would crack before it hit me. This is why I changed my comprehensive to $100.

From what I've heard it's a one time deal. I don't know that for sure though.

There’s a manufacturer warranty on the regular windshield?

As far as I know it's a one time replacement. Mine's being replaced now. It's not on the regular glass...Gorilla glass only. And yes, it's through your normal dealership.
