So, I bought my wrangler new last year 2022. Yesterday apparently two stones hit the windshield and there are cracks spiralled all over the passenger side of the windshield.
I paid 400 bucks extra for the gorilla glass after reading about the 2 year warranty and I called my service department and was told that the glass isn't covered if it came in the jeep new, only if it was purchased and added as a replacement. Is this bullshit?
The service lady was very smug about it and did t want to debate or discuss the issue. Is this the way the coverage actually works??
Thanks for any advice

I encountered the same issue on my way to Moab with 600 miles on it. I met with the Corning people at Moab EJS who proudly touted their replacement guarantee. They even too pictures. I then talked with the Jeep rep there. They said it was up to Corning. Corning then said their warranty only covers replacement glass. Jeep said they do not cover glass as they have no control over breaks. Neither would cover it. My insurance did and they required me to replace exactly what was on the vehicle originally so I stayed with the Gorilla Glass. If you wind up paying for the replacement, get the cheapest one you can as all of them will break eventually.

Thanks. I just left my dealership.
My service advisor says he is going to see what he can do and talk to the boss. I was calm and polite and explained how unreasonable this is, so who knows.... He is going to let me know either way.

Separately, something to consider for the future is talking to your auto insurance about getting a glass break rider / coverage. When my original windshield broke, I got the replacement covered by insurance (and they covered the Gorilla glass as the replacement, when that is not the windshield that I had originally). I was willing to pay the difference, but didn't have to.

They are full of crap. It is covered from the factory but they are very strict on what type and size of break they will cover. The story I got when I had to get mine replaced was the dealer had to get approval from the Regional VP (Or similar title) at Stellantis for the replacement. That individual happen to be in the dealer the day I was there and approved it for a $100 deductible.

60 days after replacement the new one took a strike and cracked. Going back to conventional glass

Gorilla Glass seems to be nothing more than a money-maker for them. If tired of breakage, consider one of the poly films on the glass—RacingOptics/Exoshield/etc. While it was a hassle getting it on correctly, the RO has saved mine from several severe hits, no damage.

It’s definitely covered but there are as mentioned before specific requirements. My dealer told me the same thing. I then showed them the Mopar warranty page for the gorilla glass and demonstrated that it was within the coverage requirements. They filed the claim and it was approved the same day. Had the replacement installed 2 days later. This was about a month ago.

I did add this to my insurance when I bought the jeep. I just don't feel I should have to make a claim when I paid for this warranty with my build.

I totally get it. Fair position to have for sure.

It's good to have to fall back on, but in the meantime I'm trying to see if they do the right thing or if I was sold some gorilla snake oil that I could have used to get the tow package I wanted.

There's no deductible. See @Bhodi11's post.

I had to send in pictures of it when making the appointment. That's it. Fully covered.

when then my dealer or the Stellantis VP pocketed the $100 that I paid. I questioned as well but was told it was at discretion of the person that approved it. I didn't call to make an appt just showed up at the dealer to ask about replacement. My service advisor took pics and showed them to the regional VP who happen to be onsite that day and he also came and looked at the damage and said they would replace it with a $100 deductible.

.....and..... Still no follow up call. This is disappointing. The most I e ever spent on a vehicle and it's like I'm begging for some customer service.
