New Jeep owner here: Sahara 2024 JL Wrangler

I’m thinking about upgrading from stock rims and tires to 33’ tires with 20x9 inch rims

1. Should I use 3/4 wheel spacers to prevent rubbing ?
2. Or just get a lift kit

It's your jeep you can do whatever you like but it's not necessary to change your wheels to 20 inch. If you ever plan to do any off-roading, larger wheels means less tire between your wheel and rocks, especially if you air down. With your factory wheels and the appropriate size/width tire you won't have rubbing issues and won't need wheel spacers. You can run 33" tires on your jeep without a lift but if you want to lift that's ok it's up to you.

I suggest doing a fair amount of reading and look at other people's jeeps to get a real solid idea of what you want your jeep to look like and what you're going to use it for. This can help from doing things twice and save a lot $$$.

I bought 33" tires put them on to see how it looked and then I decided to install a slight lift.
You can see photos on my build page if you like.

yep, exactly what Flip said. Also check the forums for some Rubi take off wheels with 33’s. Most are generally new on both aspects; wheels/tires.

I have the HA trim w/20” wheels/tires. I would go to 17s in any wheel switch. As mentioned above, not enough rubber between wheel/rocks with the 20”

If you buy the rims make sure the backspacing / offset is correct for your application and you will not need any spacer.
This web site will put it in perspective

For reference, I have a 2024 Sahara with a 2.5" lift, 17x9 wheels, and 35x12.50R17 tires.

If you will be doing any off roading, 20" wheels are not recommended. You want the total diameter to be around 50/50 tire/wheel. This is why most off roaders go for 17" wheels. If just for everyday street use, 20" is fine.

A lift or spacer also depends on your tire width, and whether you have any rubbing at flex or full turn (or care that you do).

Took at look at your build. As i am beginning to debate my next tire size. I've always had mixed emotions with pizza cutters, but dang do they look really good on your 2 door. Paired with the sport basic rims, its a killer combo.

Thank you, I appreciate that.?

The skinny tire performance has been fantastic. My jeep drives like it's on rails, no wander, no wobble. Off-road they rip it up, in the snow they cut right through it, incredible! Unfortunately wheel choices are actually one of the drawbacks for skinny tires, as they are almost non-existent for my tire size. There's only one that I know of made by Vision but fortunately they work well with the factory wheels.

For nearly unlimited wheel and tires choices there are two other sizes to consider; 285/70R17 or 285/75R17. I recommend checking the actual tire size on the manufacturers website, as some tires run larger/wider than tire size.com dimensions. You can also check out the pizza cutter thread for more information.

BTW @azwjowner is the pizza cutter king.

Best of luck my friend and enjoy your jeep.
