Hi everyone,

I was traveling and needed my oil changed so I stopped in a shop out of town. Fast forward a few months later and I'm home trying to do one on my own only to find the drain plug is completely rounded. Anyone know what the easiest/cheapest way to get that off would be?

Also, has anyone purchased a replacement plug online before? If it was successful, could you share/link it to me?

Beat a nut extractor onto the bolt and hope for the best.

Beat a nut extractor onto the bolt and hope for the best.
And in the worst case, if vice grips, extractors, etc. don't work, you can go to a welding shop and have them weld a nut on top of the bolt, which will let you remove it.

Monkey / pipe wrench.
Also replace with a quick drain valve instead of a nut

I used a combination of vise-grips and a pipe wrench when I found the Kia dealership where I bought my Jeep had rounded it. I replaced it with one from O'Reilly's and haven't had an issue with it yet after 3 more oil changes. Best of luck!

Never had to do this, but I would think a pipe wrench would do the trick for removing
