For the cost of some spare drain plugs (e.g. https://tinyurl.com/2udpw9em ) to tinker with, I was thinking of trying to put some one way valves in them https://tinyurl.com/5ce63kj9 to see if water that may collect in the front floor boards will drain out of the JL to the ground, but puddles on the road will remain outside the JL (i.e. one way valve.)

Sure...I need to identify where water is coming from in my JL, that in a heavy rain can collect in the front floor boards, but it still might not be a bad idea I think to--when this happens--not let that water pool.

Thoughts?

TIA

im sure you have already checked the normal spots for leaks - tops and drains in the windsheild track /corners

but have you checked the seams under the cowels?
i had the same issue with heavy rains as well , narrowed it down to the seams under the cowels.
either they were not sealed or not done correct, possibly a monday at the plant lol
i pulled the covers and used autobody seam sealer on both sides. problem solved
it may not be the same for you but its worth a shot
u can see my pix where the seams are open . and where im pointing to look and where the drain tube is, water just went right into the open seams . hope it helps

Back when I was getting this leak on the driver's side I did check the cowl area you describe on the driver's side, and corked it while I had the area open and exposed. I've yet to do this on the passenger's side.

I've got a roof rack that attaches in front on the cowl area so I need to light a fire under my arse to do this check on the passenger's side that you describe: which I agree with and thank you for suggesting.

BTW: it didn't help my driver's side leak when I siliconed the driver's side cowl. The dealer's "leak whisperer" said it was mostly clogged drains where the Freedom panels meets the windshield up above--which I cleaned a few days ago--and its entirely possible what's causing my passenger's side leaks are different than what caused those on the driver's side.

I'm going to also go ahead with my attempt at one way valves below as well, as leaks aren't fixed, so much as they are "identified and remedied until the next one comes along." ;)

In another thread I premiered, (echem) the Leak Detector 2000 TM

@Philly_ : so I got to checking the grommet in the jack stand area this AM, thanks, and found, at least the one in my JL build, to be a two way valve formed from 2 holes in a grommet that doesn't appear much removable, or with a lip similar to the floor drain plugs--assuming the same size, let alone something I could find a part number for. I wonder it it's part of a larger part number that I'll call "the jack floor area assembly."

..think I'm going to try the one way duck bill volves drilled into some floor drains i proposed earlier. I expect it to fail as I wonder if the weight of mere drops of water is enough to open the valve., positioned vertically in a floor grommet hole I drill. These things I glean are used in positive pressure liquid situations, or instiutionally on a 300X scale, where large amounts of water have the mass to open the valve...i.e. this 10' opening

not these: https://tinyurl.com/5ce63kj9 , 10 of which I could hold in my hand...

but for the cost of materials and spare time, I'm going to tinker...

good luck with the leak , i know how they can drive some1 crazy lo

if your idea does not work i can possibly try to make something that will let the water out , but not let it in very easily . made a fast mock up idea/ plug based off the rear cargo one sort of. it will need a diaphram of sorts as the flappy part and im sure more measurements/modifications
just for sh%t$ and giggles of course
