vise grips should get it off. if not cut a slot in it with a small grinder and use a big flat head screw driver on and old hammer impact

Thank you for introducing this to me! I think for $46 I would rather turn a wrench and wash my hands though.
LOL... I understand... I installed this drain system in my JL.... now my oil changes are super clean... no spilled oil anywhere... the used oil goes directly into an empty container of the previously used oil... so no need to use those nasty oil drain pans.. and, no need to be afraid of cross-threading or damaging the drain plug... that to me is worth the cost of this system.. one-time cost... and a lifetime of satisfaction .. LOL

TBF... I've been changing oil on vehicles for 50 years, and never had a problem with rounding off drain plugs. Until now. I rounded it off, getting the factory installed plug off for the first time. The drain plug on these Wranglers is the softest piece of trash I've ever seen screwed into an oil pan.

That said, I had only moderately rounded off the plug,so I was able to pound on a 1/2" socket to full depth. And then after I changed the oil, I left that socket 'pressed on', and have been using it that way for 3.5 years now...

might want to check your metric socket for wear another reason to only use 6 point..

I think they really shine when you have an engine skid.

You are correct... and I wouldn't install any of those fancy drain plug systems unless you have a skid as they stick out more and would be more prone to damage on the trail... potentially causing loss of oil and well.. you know how that goes..

Not always true, I run the low profile No-Spill compact version and it is tighter to the pan than a traditional plug. There are others of that style as well.

I'd slot it with a dremel disc and use a screwdriver / vise grips to get it off.
