Rough Country Compressor

Has anyone tried the Rough County Compressor? Looks exactly like the twin ARB, at almost half the cost. Even the plugs look the same. The CFM is the same for both at 6.16.

After my ARB Dual frying under the seat yesterday and filling my brand new 392 with smoke, I am not sure if I trust ARB now. Thankfully I was there when it happened. I have the ARB in my Rubi X and my TRX and have never had an issue. I don't think I like the fact that it was the brand new Jeep that it wanted to fry. I will troubleshoot it afterwhile and see if I can find the source. My gut tells me that the Australian ARB is made in the same Chinese factor as the AC...

ARB compressors are supposedly assembled and tested in Australia. Not sure where they source their parts.

They both seem to have a 3 year warranty. I am usually against using RC items but it may be worth a shot???????

Not very hard at all to punch new holes in a mounting plate.

Normally I'm against using knockoff parts that is obviously from the same factory, but I bought an ARB fridge some time ago that was quite expensive. Don't get me wrong, I still use it and and I am happy with it, but when I started seeing similar fridges come out that were significantly cheaper, that told me the ARB merchandise is overpriced.

I ordered it from CJ's Pony Parts. They just drop ship them. 8% off, free shipping. I'll give it a try. I'm thinking the best test to see where it came from is the thread pattern from the air output. Is it going to be BPT or NPT?

I ended up just replacing my ARB with another one since the Jeep shop had them in stock when I took it in to get 35s this morning.

I decided to check mounting patterns - the same.

Then I got to the wiring diagram, well that looks familiar:

Got it today. Power wires look the same. Obviously the harness for the switch is much more simplified than the ARB with the lockers. The output is 1/4" NPT.

It's going to be a while before I get to install it. My new JL is still on order.

I think it's a smart choice but the warranty is going to expire before you get your Jeep ?

Nice, Northridge already pushed the drop ship to RC, and RC is normally pretty quick coming out of TN. I've got an ARB portable single, so I can do some quality comparison when it comes in for the group.

Showed up this morning, my wife has the ARB in the Jeep with her, but here’s some shots of the RC. Shipping weight says 17.64 pounds. Quality looks pretty good. Couple little scratches.

Wiring looks decent, real copper with automotive style connectors. The wire sheathing is pretty loose, so wouldn’t be super easy to fish as it is now.

Heat sink screws are a little stripped.

I installed an ARB twin recently in my new jeep.. lol this is exactly the same damn thing.. down to the wire loom, instructions and connectors :D if mine conks out, i'll probably buy this one.
