The man had a wife and three young children.

Something to think about when you intentionally engage in dangerous behavior.
Would he have been able to provide the lifestyle they enjoyed without working in a dangerous career field? You could say any of his rally races alone could have killed him.

The cause wasn’t determined. Know only by him and the ONE who knows.
I am no expert on them but a snowmobile weighs about 600 lbs. Having that come down on top of you in the wrong manner can kill even the strongest of people. I don't think cause of death is a mystery.

He will be sorely missed. One thing that is really crazy (which I did not know until today) is that he didn't really get into racing/driving until his late 30's and look how fast he mastered that skill and took it to the next level. Insane.

And they could have. Wasn’t worth it.

If no one ever engaged in "dangerous behavior" our world would be a very different place. No one to create and test airplanes (especially military), vehicles, spacecraft (no internet or communications), very few sports (zero motorsports), mountain trail rides in jeeps would be out of the question, no hunting, no swimming or boating, plus so much more... Should that all be limited to single folks without kids? Nope.

Yes.

Though there is clearly a difference in racing a high powered snowmobile down a mountain and performing real work with all normal safety protocols in place.

Yes?? As in yes, you think only single childless people should do those things??
Mr. Block died having fun. There's no better way to go. Don't criticize the man.

You think his kids are glad he died having fun, or would they rather have their dad at home tonight?

There was a reel on Facebook this morning that appeared to show, from a distance and as recorded by a member of Block's group, Block's snowmobile going up in the air, falling backwards and landing on him.

With the phone still recording, we then see the other fellow briskly ride over to the wrecked snowmobile, now in pieces, with an unmoving Block laying next to it, his helmet off and resting just behind his head (its separation likely caused by the force of the impact.)

-----------------

No judgement here regarding the manner of the man's death. Requiescat in pace.

Ya, not sure that was legit, I can't even find someone saying there is a video, nevermind the video itself.

Agreed, but I thought I'd mention it. There were enough comments attached to the reel to suggest it was legit. More to the point, what it showed was an exact match to every news article describing the incident, but caveat emptor anyway.

That's a dumb question. Losing a loved one is the worst. Watching them decay slowly and painfully with cancer, dementia or any terminal illness is extra salt in the wound for the living.
I'm not gonna go back and forth with you on this anymore.
Block is a legend, and his legacy will live on. RIP

That will be very comforting to his daughter when she walks down the aisle without her father.
