Dealer rip-off

Did my gears recently at just under 20k miles. The rear diff fluid was so black it was purple. I dont tow at all but have taken it offroad multiple times over the 3 years and have an lsd as well.
Easy to change the fluid. Save yourself $300 AND know that it was done right!

Do you think modern vehicles have fuel filters?

I've changed them in our Hondas, and a Chevrolet truck that I used to own. The dealer insisted the filters on the CR-V were "lifetime", but I periodically renewed them anyway.

I wouldn’t classify the fuel pump inlet strainers as a filter.

They are indeed filters, and the mesh media is small enough to serve an important function. By way of example, I've had to remove and clean the standpipes (as they're technically known) on carbureted and fuel injected motorcycles, if only to remove accumulated detritus passed on from fuel pumps. Those small clumps were still large enough to clog a fuel pump's impeller, had the strainers been absent. Thus my labors.
