To make sure I understand this part. The does not fix the root issue (the damaged sensor) however it does nonetheless solve the problem, eliminates the error light on the dash and the locker sensor, and allows you to use lockers. That being said, with the Z locker, can the sensor issue be ignored indefinitely then?

Yep. The locker(s) will work just fine. No reported issues long term that I am aware of.

No Problem, This was the exact reason i did not buy a rubicon. I went with a sport S and swapped in rubicon axles. This allowed me to not have to worry about the sensor failing and the computer freaking out. I was able to just run the locker from the switch pod and it has given me zero issues and always seems to work.... thus far LOL 3 years and counting with thousands of miles off road LOL. Hopefully your dealer can get the part in quick. its super simple to swap out once the part is in hand
Wait a minute, you bought a sport to avoid the issue with Mopar lockers...and then swapped in Mopar lockers?

Not to avoid the lockers. I did it to avoid the lockers being tied into the pcm/BCkup systems. As the locker error can cause the 4wd system to no engage. Saved a world of headaches with that. Plus the savings alone is unreal. Between just adding the axles and the transfer case ( if I still go the route of the 4:1 case) I’m well under 40k for my sport. S and have had a world of less problems then a lot of the rubicons have had. But again that was my preference and isn’t for everyone.

I knew it wouldn’t stay stock. So no reason ti start with a 50-65k Jeep and then change everything that made it a rubicon and over priced

Did you try unplugging the sensor and plugging it back in? Check underneath as well to see if there is stress on the wires.

I have not. I'll see if I can give that a look tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

Mine went out this past weekend. 5 years, 40k miles so I made it longer than most.

Leaving for Moab next week and I don't have time to fix it so I ordered the Z Automotive harness to take care of it.

Got rear done on warranty. Potted them both. Rear still does it but rarely so I bought the mopar wiring kit and now ron lockers off my switch pro and turned the puter off of lockers with the taser mini. I like it better as you may enguage just the front locker if need be.

Good luck...I went in with the same problem...they replaced the sensor, said the problem didn't go away so they went with swapping out the axle...now saying Dana build the axle wrong and Stellantis and Dana are fighting over who is wrong while both pissing on the customer stuck in the middle. 5800 miles on it...thought it'd be a quick warranty fix...how wrong I was.

Geez, you'd think they would have redesigned the darn thing by now with all of these issues. That would have to be better than warranty repairs for all of these, plus the improved customer satisfaction. But what do I know, I'm just a customer.

yeah that would seem to be the logical thing to do....but then I look back to oh say something like the Pinto...and Ford knew very early on that the gas tank design was an issue but felt the cost to fix it was more than the potential risk....and then they learned an expensive lesson.

All my experience is teaching me is that I'll be going to after-market parts much sooner than I had originally planned...which when talking with my dealership they won't mind too much as they have more work than they can handle...which is also telling in a sad way.

Okay, have my service appt at 7am on Friday. We'll see how this goes.
@chevymitchell - any rough estimate on what the parts cost for this potting procedure? Did you need to buy diff fluid or do you just reuse what you drained?

As a personal preference, if any fluid gets drained, it doesn’t go back in.

Potting material is somewhere around $12-20. Something like that.
