I know you asked ingrum, but recently measured for a friend ...

ceiling to bottom of top is 48” for me. Looking at pic, I could raise another 4“ish. So,
~ 44”
From ceiling to bottom of hard top.

I just looked / measured a little closer.
I’m currently sitting 49” to bottom of top (your yellow line) and ~ 24” to top of top (I could be off an inch or so on 24” as I wasn’t eye level on top of top. 49” is accurate).

Looking/measuring at top cable, I could raise another 8” to get right to rope clip with red line and 11” to rope clip with purple line (just move the 2 rope clips next to each other vs 3” spaced).

so best case, approx 13” (+\- 1”) to top of top and 38” to bottom of top.

I keep the pipe foam on as a marker to stop when freedom tops are up there.

As an aside, when I put the top back on today it operated just like I thought it would - I got it pretty close backing it in and was able to easily manipulate it here or there to drop it into place. Very easy to put it back on.

I put electrical tape on garage floor so I can get almost exact position for easy on/off. It lines up with the back up camera guide lines. (I’m jealous of all the nice epoxy floors everyone shows!)

Edit: yes, friction holds it but there is a safety lock.

I made mine a long time ago for my JK. Got a great deal on a Smittybuilt hoist so used that to connect to the hard top as I had already bought and installed the Racor. Used the electric winch to make a crane to move all my wife’s seasonal decorations in and out of the Attic. Got the Topsy system last year for the JL and just modified the Smittybilt. I plan on using The Racor and the Topsy directly (see the pool noodles) but just haven’t yet. The pool noodle on the right hanging down allows me to easily center the Jeep on it

It is back to $249 and change, and my CFO placed the order. I am looking forward to trying it out. One of the selling points is the storage ability when not holding the hardtop.
