After suffering from severe analysis paralysis on this forum, I finally made some significant decisions and finished installation this past weekend. The purpose of this post is only to show up in future searches with some definitive answers that might help future JL owners. First I installed 315/70/17 Wildpeak AT3 on my completely stock JLUR (stock wheels/no lift) with no issues of any kind. IMHO the tires look fantastic on the stock wheels and fill up the wells nicely with no rubbing lock to lock, though I haven't flexed it out or anything since installation. The amount of lift these tires added to the stock Rubi is just enough to look a bit meaner without inciting divorce proceedings. The ride is perfect at 40psi...barely noticeable if any difference at all. The spare tire fits perfectly on the stock mount, and rest ever so lightly on my steel bumper, providing so relief from the additional weight. That size should have come stock on JL Rubicons!

Next, I decided on a hoist solution and mounted a Racor in my garage, and added the Topsy brackets. Highly recommend. Looks cool, super smooth top removal, easy install. With that said, I broke off one of my back glass hinge bolts off in my hardtop, shat myself, bought an extraction kit, downed some bourbon and coke to steady my hands, and by the grace of whomever was able to get the bolt out with no damage to my threads. If you install the Topsy brackets...barely hand tighten those bolts!! 90in/lbs isn't much, and you can easily exceed it with just a small wrench while snugging things up!

That is all I have to say at this time.

Looks great. Main issue would be whether it rubs during flex. Of course if it stays on pavement you’re all set.

I like the look a lot.

40 psi sounds very high on a ~35" tire on a ~4400# vehicle but if it works, you do you

Nice rig

Thanks! I am planning on a 1.5 Terraflex...should be all I need for full flex.

Yeah I would definitely chalk them.
I plan to...40psi was just a blind start. I haven't chalked before, I am guessing just a stripe of chalk across the width of the tire, and then see what rubs off.

@KevinLC : thanks for this. I have a request. If it's not too much trouble, when you get a chance can you take a picture of the rear of your JL from about a car's length behind it?

I am trying to get a sense of whether, for me, those Topsy hooks might bother my sense of aesthetics regarding their installation.

Topsy doesn't recommend their installation and removal with each hard top lift. It wants owners to make the installation permanent.

Thanks. : - )

--40psi IS ASTRONOMICALLY HIGH--

30 to 35 psi is the most logical/comfy pressure--

Good luck

You definitely do not want to take them on and off...I just don't trust that those bolts/threads would handle it well. Pics attached:

I think they ride as good or better than my stock BFGs...and that is with way to much air in them.

cool deal. I like how they look on the Gladiator, just no clue how they ride in real life.

Thanks Kevin @KevinLC for the rear, somewhat distanced pictures I requested. To my mind's eye, those Topsy lifts aren't much the eyesore at all. IMHO you have to practically look to find them. : - )

Cheers

More or less. There's some youtube videos out there if you need a visual. Basically you want the chalk to come off evenly.
