It is back to $249 and change, and my CFO placed the order. I am looking forward to trying it out. One of the selling points is the storage ability when not holding the hardtop.
Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered. I was wanting this but then was going to get the Lange hoist but Quadratec didn't have them in stock and Lange wouldn't do a discount so I was waiting. Glad I waited.

Folks with this lift what other parts now do I need to order to finish it up and make it compatible for the JL?

From what I read, add both of these from Topsy and you are good to go.

I installed the rack today, and it was a beast of an install being solo. I really wish I had another set of hands to help holds things. I used 1/4" X 3" stainless steel lag screws which required enlarging the holes. I also ordered the Topsy replacement cams. My Topsy parts arrived a day early, so I was able to complete the install. If the weather holds tomorrow, the top comes off!

The wind was fierce today (30+ mph), but I went for it anyway. The hoist worked flawlessly. I had some old carpet that I used for protection until I get the pool noodles.

Mine came in yesterday. Might get started on it this weekend. Winter is coming so top won't be off for another 7 months so I've got time.

I've got about 11-12' where I can mount it. Would I be able to add a 2nd platform/shelf under the one provided and create a 2nd shelf. Then have the roof hang below that.
Have some items on shelving in the garage now. Thinking I could free up some space and put those on the top shelf, then the Freedom panels on the lower shelf, then the hanging Jeep roof.

Just ordered the steel cable cam drivers. Do I need to install them before I install the hoist?

The yellow disc in the picture is the Topsy steel cam drive. You have to remove the plastic one and thread the new one on the cable before attaching the axle to the brackets on the ceiling. The instructions with pictures will help guide you. It isn't difficult to swap them out. You need a 10mm wrench to remove the U bolts.

Something else I did was to mount the bracket in my picture before attaching the gearbox. The Racor instructions say to attach the gearbox before mounting the bracket to the ceiling. If you are doing it solo, the added weight of the gearbox provides an extra challenge.

Quick question. Does it matter which direction I attach the top to the ceiling studs/joists? For example the pic above has them aligned and going front to back in correlation with the Jeep. Could I mount them going right to left?

The platform is square, so it doesn’t matter as long as the frame is lag bolted to the joists and you have room at the rear of the Jeep to attach the winding rod to the gear box. It is easier from the side though. Also, be sure the platform is oriented so the larger cross pieces are fore and aft for attaching the Topsy straps.

Ok next question. If the rack is off center left to right by about 3 inches (to be able to mount to joists) will that be a problem taking the top off and on.
It won't be ideal. Taking it off will be easier than trying to get it back on. An alternative for you might be to fasten the Racor frame to 2x4s and then you can place the 2x4s across the joist at the location that is ideal for you. This, of course would lower the whole rig and in some situations would create a clearance issue when raising the top. In my garage I have enough height to raise the hardtop and still be able to back in the Jeep under it with the soft on.

Ok. I have the height. My joists are running front to back But sadly off center by 3-4 inches.

So dumb question but I am trying to get this right the first time. The joists run front to back. You would run 2x4 right to left across the joists then only attached the Racor to the 2x4 at the four corners? So only 4 lag bolts holding up the racor attached to the 2x4’s

Mine is off center due to the joist placement. I didn't adjust with 2x4's because it wouldn't leave enough room. As it is, the rear glass doesn't quite clear the spare in the closed position.

I hope that helps!

Is it hard to take on and off? I will always have someone to help at least push it over to line it up as long as it doesn’t take much effort. It would be my wife.
