Long story short my jeep has been at the dealership since 11/4 to get the door hinges repainted. I've been texting the service manager and cannot get a good eta for completion. Has anyone dealt with this before and has Jeep Cares been of any value? Luckily I have a loaner but its annoying paying for a jeep I havent seen in over a month.

Wow. That’s just unacceptable. Can you get it back and take it to another dealership?

@Jeep Cares

That is the most unacceptable story about service I have heard of.

Me!...little old me replaced a hinge myself. I bought it at Quadratec, along with the MOPAR matching spray lacquer and 2K top coat and was done in no time..

...it was probably harder to install a grab handle....

Unbelievable. I've brought Jeep Cares into the fold for you!

Have you seen your Jeep since you dropped it off? That seems way too long for a straight forward repair. I would personally start wondering if there was another “issue” that came up and they needed time to address prior to pick it up.

Orginally the plan was to drop it off on a monday and it would be done on a friday. They said they realized theh needed to replace the bushings as well inside the hinge. That was around the 12th or so. They jeep is currently "at their body shop they use". I would be interested in going by to see if somehow something else is messed up on it.

You’ve been waaaaaaaaaay more patient than I’d have been. You need to insist on seeing it in person immediately. Something’s fishy.

Tell them to pay your first month’s payment. If they don’t, blast them on Facebook, Twitter and google maps. You’re paying Jeep Wrangler money for some POS loaner right now...

Damn man, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm dealing with the same paint issue, except mines the doors not the hinges. Dropped it off last Monday (12/2) and was supposed to get it back Friday (12/6) but it got delayed so by Wednesday (12/11) it'll be back I'm told. I finally got a loaner and I chewed them out for the delay and the hassle so I got the 19' Rebel in the meantime. I give you credit for being polite and dealing with that for so long, but yea you have every right to go off on them for that stunt. Jeep Cares wasn't involved for me partly because I forget they're even there, but I'm not one of those quiet customers when things hit the unreasonable level of these situations. Gift or a curse, idk, but anyways I truly think they either don't really care and your JL keeps getting sidelined/pushed back or they made a boo-boo/bad decision and are trying to fix it..........so you're well within your rights to know where you vehicle is at and either pick it up or go see it yourself. I couldn't imagine a month of this crap.

Out of curiosity, what was wrong with the hinges? Why repaint? Pictures?

Although it can be a tricky spot to paint due to the moving parts, something like that should have taken no more than 1-2 days.

Over 30 days, no way...time to raise H-E-double hockey sticks.

Replacing hinge bushings would add about 5 minutes to the job....literally.

Lol like that will happen- sounds like the typical I want something for nothing. Let me guess if they don’t your going to “drive the vehicle through the glass”?

Is this warranty work? If so check your lemon law. In Ohio 30 days in the shop first year is an automatic lemon. Here I’d say keep it I’ll be getting ALL my money back under lemon law.

That’s false information. In Ohio if a new vehicle is in the shop for 30 days or more you can FILE a lemon law claim. That doesn’t mean you are going to win your case, get any or all moneys back. You will probably be laughing stock when you present you case over painted door hinges.

Not false. Though feel free to nit pick my wording. Attorney general site says 3 attempts to fix a major issue or cumulative 30 days in the shop (severity of issue not specified).

So yes. Would qualify to go under lemon law here. I had a car bought back under lemon law for seat trim pieces falling off. Pontiac Aztec.

Point for the OP is you have options and can contact your state attorney general to step in. A lemon law complaint could at the least light a fire and best get your money back.

So they shipped it out to another body shop? It's not at your dealer? Yeah, there's your problem.
