I have a few questions about upgrades to my 23 Sahara Unlimited JLU. My last jeep came with all of these things already included, so I only had to replace a thing or two, vs upgrade.

I want to start by saying I suffer from anxiety when it comes to these things. So I may be asking stupid questions due to this issue. So right up front, I'm being maybe overly cautious about upgrading anything until I feel comfortable.

I am seeing, and being told, a hundred different things for what the front stock bumper weighs. I want to replace it with what looks to be a 62 lb bumper. Is that an issue? Am I required to replace front and rear at the same time to balance? I saw a pair that were 80 lbs each. That seemed a bit much for mine as I only do light to med-light trails (no rock crawling).

Many of these bumpers come with LED, or holes for LED. Apparently because mine came with halogen, I will be switching to LED. I know little about LED, to understand that if it shows (example) that the bumper has 4x 18w LED. Is that acceptable to replace the fog lights that are now gone?

Speaking on bumpers, almost all of them say, wiring harness not included. If every site was like Amazon (kidding) they would all then provide a link to include it. They don't however. I am guessing this is something I should know and then go get. Advice to know more or how?

I have on order an 8 gang switch panel to handle additional lighting and what not. I figured this was the easy part.

Thank you!

The weight of the bumper change is not enough to affect anything significantly.

I bought bumpers from Rock-hard 4x4. Both are aluminum.

Heavier bumpers will not hurt anything, that being said, lighter will always be better. Cheaper to lighten up than add power. Harness not included with bumper is because if you were to transplant oem lights to new bumper you would use oem harness from oem bumper. Don't overthink a simple mod.

The bumper was super easy…I do however have the LED light package on my Jeep. I have the Volswitch grab handle light controller…THAT was a bear…my winch is direct to battery with a On/Off switch. Wiring is a PITA…and usually takes me hours. I have 2 sets of fog/driving lights, 2 back up lights and rock lights…that’s 4. Why 8? Best of luck with the mods!

If the new bumpers use the OE-style fog light mounts, you’ll have a pretty easy time finding LED upgrades or replacements that’ll drop right in. For example, something like what we offer for the ’18–’23 Wrangler JL fits those mounts perfectly and keeps the clean factory look:
👉 Jeep Wrangler JL Lighting Options

If the bumper uses universal light openings instead, a small LED pod setup would be a great way to go and since you already have an 8-gang switch panel on the way, that’ll make future lighting additions super simple to wire and manage. Happy to help if you want to talk through specific bumpers or lighting setups — sounds like you’re on the right track already!

Appreciate it. Jeep looks great. Might have been rhetorical but that's me. I'm like, what if I get a 6 and needed 7. I best get 8.

That said, I was given a set of brand new 4" fog/driving lights (forgot to mention originally) I plan to mount on the hood like yours. They are 6 way. So it will take 2 switches to operate. I live out in the stix, literally. Lots of farm land, winding roads, dirt roads, etc.
