Lars - 2023 Wrangler JLU

I'm likely less of a build, more of a modify, and it will likely not be anywhere near amazing as the big time off-roaders, but I still wanted to make some changes to my 2023 Wrangler JLU.

I purchased this one used, and the previous owner was a rental place, so apart from a few extra comfort features, it was stock.

I started with the design. Huge shout out to Rebel Decal for the Kraken vinyl on my doors and hood.

Not so happy with the wheel cover folks for doing an amazing job and watching it discolor and fade in 3 months.

Finally, you can see them in the images, but I added covers to many of the hinges and a few other sections.

My next step was swapping out my grill and adding a new one with some DRL. I like the grill, but the amber lights are 10x dimmer than the grill I purchased for my wife's Jeep. When I feel I've gone long enough, I'll look for a new one. I also purchased a small honeycomb grill guard to fit behind it.

Next I tackled the stock steps, and put on a set that gives me higher roof access and a better step. Nothing fancy.

If you keep looking at those tires, I agree. But they were brand new and I just replaced my wife's tires with a set of 33" Toyo Open Country A/T III, so mine needed to wait.

Finally, so far, I started looking into add-ons. I wanted a front/rear dash cam, a wire harness for the tow hitch I added, and while my goal it to swap out bumpers, I opted to add the aux switch now since I'll need it anyway. That then made me add some cube lights.

You can't see it, but I also bought a second rear camera that is mounted to the back "roll bar". The hardtop mounted camera has a quick disconnect that is 3M snap mounted to the top. It can be moved to the bar camera in an instant when the top is off.

Nothing fancy on the tow hitch or the wire harness.

The bracket that came with the Auxbeam AS-R80 just didn't work in the space provided, but the aux switch was an easy install and mounts inside nicely on the dash. I acquired a bracket from 813 Fabrication Design that worked perfectly.

If all that isn't frivolous enough, I also added these items for fun. We live on a lake. Plenty of community events, jeep shows, and deck bars.

Nothing fancy, but wanted to migrate to a steel bumper in preparation for the upcoming tires. Added Lamin-x fog light covers as I did.

The change was small, but went from 31.9 to 33.2 Nitto Grappler G3.
