I have just 4,000 miles on my JLUR and about 2k with the premium soft top down while i am on the freeway.

I noticed tonight there is already some wear on the top from abrasion while it is down. If it is this way with that few miles on it - What will it be at 80k miles?

Anyone else seeing this?

My 2013 JKs doesn’t show any wear at all. Was yours part of the dual top group?
If so, did it stay packaged in the Jeep awhile before you took it out?

My 2009 JKUR doesn’t show wear.

Nope, this has been on the Jeep and from what I can tell it is abrasion on itself while driving with the top down.

My premium top on my 2013 has these annoying plastic wedges riveted onto the bows of the soft top apparently to keep the top's fabric from riding on itself when folded. Does your top have those wedge spacer things?

I always thought they made the top look too thick and set up too high when folded in either the sunrider or full down position.
I used to get jealous of the way the basic top looked folded back as it looked so much flatter than the premium top. Perhaps the premium top is more prone to wear.

Damn it!
Everytime I get stoked about trading a JK for a JL, somebody brings up some new JL problem the JK doesn't have.

That sucks! Need to check mine. I do actually strap it down to one of the rings on the floor so it doesn't move AT ALL. So that may help.

How do you strap it? Send a pic if you get a chance.

I have the basic soft top sand don’t see this yet - looks to be along of the horizontal supports.

Yep. I am going to determine what it is rubbing on today and see what I can place in there to protect it.

I literally have my soft top down about 95% of the time from May - September, so I need this resolved for the next 10 years or so. (I hang on to my Jeeps - ‘05 TLUR, ‘09 JKUR and now ‘18 JLUR)

I saw it. That's convertible 101. But to wear by design doesn't make any sense. The JKs don't seem to be doing it. Did Jeep take a step backwards?

I have 5000 miles on my jeep, been thru touchless car wash 11 times, driven in the sunrider and the full down position at 75 mph without straps. No flapping noise either. I'm not saying this is better but that the Jeep can handle it.
