Hello,
Looking for some advice... I'm looking to buy a new 2024 Unlimited Sport S.
The MSRP is $49,735. The dealer's asking price is $46,945 out-the-door. This includes the $499 doc fee.
The price above does NOT include taxes, since we pay taxes at the DMV when we title our vehicles here in...
I would definitely NOT pay anymore than $40k (before taxes, fees, etc.). In fact, at this point, I'd say somewhere around $39k. Since it's a late model (2018), there's enough data out there to know what it's truly worth.
You should go to Edmunds (edmunds.com/appraisal/), and run the numbers for...
Yep, as mentioned above, dealers make money if you finance through them. Dealers get what's known as a "reserve" from the bank. The bank will only give the dealer the "reserve" if the car buyer maintains the loan for at least 3 months. However, it's important to note that in most cases, there's...
I was able to get a new 2018 Sahara with an MSRP of $48,220 for $39k, plus a $199 doc fee. In Missouri, we pay taxes at the DMV when we title our vehicles.
Informed buyers (for example, people reading this forum) would never, ever do that deal, however, you'd be amazed how many uninformed buyers out there that would actually be stupid enough to do that deal. Given the power of the Internet, and dissemination of information, I would say that their...
Completely agree! For some vehicles, leasing makes sense, but definitely NOT for Wranglers. They hold their value too well to lease them. As your math correctly shows above, you'd be far better off (in the long run) to buy the Wrangler.
Agreed. 20%+ off of MSRP is the target price for any remaining 2018's, especially since the 2020's are right around the corner, which means all remaining 2018's will have hit 2 depreciation cycles.
Completely agree! I was in negotiation with a dealer for a brand new fully loaded 2018 2-door Rubicon. I sat there with my laptop and ran the resale numbers via Kelly Blue Book right there in front of the salesman. I selected Private Party Resale, with only 29 miles, all the options, etc., in...
Sounds like some folks are getting nearly 20% off of MSRP on remaining 2018's. I've tried to get a similar deal in my area (St. Louis), but no such luck. Best that I've seen around me is around 15% off, which is not good enough for me, given that 2018's have already hit a full year of...
Yep, agreed, well said! Since 2007, I've owned 9 Wranglers (8 JK's and 1 JL, mainly Rubicons and a few Saharas). Over the years, I've always done really well on resale by buying at or below Employee Pricing (between 5%-7% below invoice), and NEVER trading in. I always sell Private Party, since...
