Hey guys! I've never bought a NEW vehicle, much less ordered one from the factory. I've perused the forum quite a bit and haven't found what I'm looking for. I'm planning on financing through my bank. What is the actual process. Do I need the financing when I order or when the jeep arrives at the dealer? What is actually due at the time of ordering? If someone could lay out a time line, that would be amazing! TIA!

Payment (including a loan if any) is usually due when you pick it up. Some dealers may require a deposit when you order. Sometimes the dealer may work directly with your bank. Generally you can get a pre-approval from your bank and then when the car comes in, you get the required documentation from the car dealer, bring it to the bank, and they will cut a check to the dealer for the loan. Sometimes it is better in negotiations to not say how you are paying for it before ordering.

This thread details the dealers making the best deals:

Hi Melissa, welcome to the forum.
We ordered from a local dealership who asked for a $500 deposit. I've heard other dealers require more down, some require nothing. I was going to finance through my bank also but mine would only lock in the rate for 30 or 45 days (can't remember). I went ahead and got pre-approved but when it came time for delivery they were able to get me a better rate so I didn't use my bank.

I've heard great things about Guptons in TN so you may want to reach out to them.

My process was (research what I want) go to the dealer order what I wanted. Got a price then ordered, 1000 dollar deposit.

Then waited. When I got my shipping information from dealer (should be here in next 2 weeks) I got pre approval with my credit union. I never use dealer financing myself. Just takes away one more way they make money off of me. Pre-Approved with draft check just waiting on Jeep. No finance haggling with with dealer now. 1% off invoice or MSRP is not worth dealing with them.

If you ask your bank or better yet credit union for pre-approval generally have 60 to 90 days locked in approval.

Only outlier is trade in.

But if you order you already know what your Jeep will cost and only downside is waiting. Plus you live in a great area, can go to Tennessee or where ever and get under invoice in a few hours drive. Look at the under invoice dealers thread here on the forums.

If you just buy one off the lot at a dealer you are at their mercy.
