I’ve been known to do that, twice, backing out of my garage in my 2015 JKU Sahara hardtop.

The hardtop won. Both times.

Yes I’ve done that….. couple years ago when we first put it on, ( ragtop newb) .I was so used to just driving in with the hardtop off that I just drove right in, luckily for my stupid ass it just hit and made the garage door go up higher( no opener) and I was able to stop quick enough, just about throwing the wife through the windshield…. ….. so… the close call, and the constant reminder from the wife every time we pull in, it hasn’t happened since……..?………………?

Just put in a 14 foot garage door and you won't have to worry about it at all.

Maybe not the garage. But got out on the highway with my 2013 jku and got up to about 60 before the top reminded me I latched the left lock down but not the right. The instant I saw a crack of light on the right side I knew what I had done. Too late, that corner bent back and taco ed " the top and destroyed it. Seemed like slow motion but it was instantaneous. Remove and replaced what was nearly a new Trectop NX. I now refuse to talk to anyone until the latches are BOTH locked.

That was painful to watch, one of my concerns every time I open the top to the sunrider position. Many years ago I had a leased Toyota Venza, left the rear hatch open and pulled into the garage, its a horrible feeling. The glass didn't break but did about $1500 worth of damage.

I'm thinking that periodically replacing a soft top would be significantly cheaper.

I was worried I damaged the top when I took it up to snow. Scrapped off a foot of snow in the morning, and another foot the next day. Looks fine and no leaks, but not something I considered before buying the soft top.
